Re: Stretch3

Forgot to mention that Paul’s bolstered Stretch is gorgeous and I believe would sell well even at a the high price they would need to charge for it.

Re: Stretch3

Whats- a boye dent is when there's a little dent in the backlock. I think the purpose is to easier locate the lock without having to look at it. :) The Boye dent was originally designed to prevent accidental unlocking when gripping the knife tightly. People either love it or very much hate it, some...

Re: No more love for the Rhino ?

I love my Rhino and I have compared it favorably with Sal’s best LBK designs. I’m right handed, but carry on my left and I have found it very easy to open and close with my left hand. If the designer’s larger model gets made, I will get one of those as well. I’ll have to wait until they hit the used...

Re: New reveal policy: is it the end of an era?

The new Reveal plan seems wise to me. It removes one more stress point for Spyderco, allows for better control in setting realistic customer expectations, and allows Spyderco more time (if needed) to perfect designs. Not really seeing a negative here.

Re: Your top 5 Sal Glesser designs?

When we make a collaboration design, we always put the collaborators name or "tag/logo" on the blade. If there is no indication on the blade, then the knie was designed by sal or Eric or both sal & Eric. sal there should be a "Saleric" logo for joint designs. ;-) My top five: Native (original frn w...

Re: Hard truths and observations

I think it is unfair to continue to lump those with price concerns into the the "under-informed & price-is-main-concern" camp. None of use would be here discussing Spyderco knives if we were in that camp. Really, think about it. What many of us are worried about is that Spyderco, once the benchmark ...

Re: Hard truths and observations

I'm sick of these threads just as much as anyone, but I'm also sick of the excuses for Spyderco's prices. HERE'S THE DEAL. Spyderco charges what people are willing to pay. It's a (relatively) FREE MARKET. The prices are BS, but at the end of the day you get a good product. If you don't like it, buy...

Re: 2019 Wishlist

Only the Native Salt is on my 2019 list, not much else is of interest, but that will likely change when Spyderco drops some of their surprise models.

Re: Military Thief

Always sad to see this sort of thing. I once had an apartment when I was younger and much poorer and one of the maintenance people stole my mini-mag flashlight. Many thieves are opportunistic, they will steal it because they have the opportunity, not out of need. The maintenance people were likely e...

Re: yet another "price increase"

OP, the correct order is think, post, drink and NOT drink, drink, post. Have a better New Year. No one likes price increases, but it is a fact of life. Many of us struggle with the hobby because our wages do not see the same yearly increase. At least Spyderco is not selling us mostly empty boxes lik...

Re: The Tale of Two Rhinos

Very cool, thanks for sharing. I’m guessing enough of the original batch failed inspection to get the whole lot rejected. This one might have been the best of the bunch, only Spyderco knows. For the record, I’d buy less expensive model in a lesser steel & handle material because the design raises th...

Re: Any word on the Native Salt?

This is the sole new item in the current catalog to get and keep my attention. Hopefully, it will be a stock item and not a sprint. Recent unplanned purchases have depleted my fun monies. i know what you mean. i just had to replace all four tires on my truck. $900 that won’t be going toward spydies...

Re: Bearded Axes? Broad Axes?

They used to use such axes not only for woodworking, and combat in the usual sense, but they also had types that they would throw in a volley. They were devastating, breaking shields, legs, and killing. If you refer to the vikings, it is highly unlikely, that they threw their axes on a regular orga...

Used it to grab a Rhino (finally) for less than $100 shipped.
I hope you love it as much as I do. I like it so much that I’m not even mad I missed this deal when I bought mine recently.
