Re: Thumb Stud Spydercos

I haven't bought a knife with a thumb stud in years. It's usually a deal killer for me at this point.

Re: Do Spyderco Knives Have No Flaws?

There's nothing wrong with people having their own opinions about knives. Though reading this forum, it's not always clear people buy into that. There's nothing wrong with knives that look great but can't really be used for much more than opening letters, cutting threads, or opening a package. That'...

Re: Do Spyderco Knives Have No Flaws?

OP, read this thread about the Rhino. Spyderco is different: https://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?t=74423 Also, keep in mind that Sal or Eric usually carry and use new or changed designs for a while before they are released. They don't release stuff that looked cool, but didn't work in pra...

Re: Spyderco Website Ordering Woes

I was afraid I might get this response, I can see how this comes across as whining, that's one of the reasons I waited two months to mention it. I had hoped that my opening paragraph in which I expressed my gratitude for the discount would assuage that, but I was incorrect. You are absolutely corre...

Re: Shot Show 2019

They only solved the pocket clip issue but they lost a good opportunity to thin down that overkill blade stock  Too bad ....maybe they'll grind them thinner behind the edge at least ... I only hope Sal reads this .... The blade stock is the biggest reason the Para 3 doesn't work for me. But I ...

Re: Shot Show 2019

Man, that Lightweight para3 is gonna be a huge seller! I just noticed (after watching that last video) that they smoothed/rounded the chamfering. This handle should feel much more like the Japanese frn knives which IMO will be a huge improvement over some of the “blockier” handles on the Golden mad...

That's a great video, thanks. Eric does a nice job of conveying what makes Spyderco unique. Credit to BladeHQ as well for how it was produced.

Re: Blade Steel CQI

In a folder that is probably the most relevant aspect for a lot of People. Me, i don't really care if i can cut 100 feet of cardboard or 120 before sharpening. :) Me neither. There are a lot of people who prefer something that can be sharpened reasonably easily, others that look for toughness for a...

Re: Gift for new sailor

You might still look at the Salt knives that use H1 steel - the Salt 1 and Salt 2 in particular - and see what you think. To me they seem better suited to sailors, while some of the others seem better suited to fishermen and other sportsmen.

Re: Blade Steel CQI

I would tend to think they have it pretty well figured out in the first place. Most of these steels have been around a while, even if they are new to knives, and they are careful. As to some of the comparisons - It may be Spyderco is going for a different mix of characteristics than other companies....

Re: eBay selling

Things may lean in favor of fixed price. There's a thread here, a lot of the recent posts are about eBay coupons. The idea is that when an eBay coupon that works pops up, a buyer gets a discount and seller gets their price, because eBay funds the coupon. Coupons seem to be easier for buyers to use o...

Re: Will the Paramilitary FRN replace the Delica?

Lock, choil, size. Plus you haven't seen the Delica 5 yet. :P Delica 5: For me still NO choil, still backlock hopefully... ;) Yeah, I don't see it getting a choil. That's why there are other models. And that's one reason why the Para variations don't displace the Delica. Clearly there's room for bo...

Re: Hard truths and observations

On a different note- Who’s buying a delica for $75 odd dollars when the new para3 lightweight is $90? Other than the lock which some have strong opinions on gotta say that’s a tough sell! In addition to the lock, there's also the choil vs no choil camps. The handle and blade of the Delica are narro...

Re: BD1N I still want to know

Keep in mind it's just meant to be something better than VG-10 or BD1, as an all around and moderately priced steel. It's not a super steel, so some comparisons may not be useful. [ Elliot Williamson, Founder of Ferrum Forge Knife Works] tells us Carpenter’s CTS-BD1N holds the potential to achieve s...

hi LC200N, Welcome to our forum. Patience is a good thing. Upset gains no points here. They should be shipping soon. They are very nice. Re: Two questions for Sal regarding the Chaparral design

I think he means that the entire "arc" itself is kinda of an hump. At least in comparison to the Calypso (older design) and the Urban (wider blade to offer more of a leverage arm to one hand open). sal I've noticed that too. I prefer the narrower blade designs as well, but the answer seems to be ch...

Re: New? Immerse!

Certainly I've come to realize that everything on a Spyderco knife is done for a reason. And I think of that when I read the critical comments people make that don't seem to understand the knives. You can understand a knife without liking it or wanting it, but so many of the comments don't seem to u...
