Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral

I finally got my hands on one of these this week, it had been on my want list since it was announced. I really like the design and texture of the FRN and the new pattern. It's solid and well built as you'd expect from Taichung. Lockbar is pretty stiff, as others mentioned, but I remember my CF Chap ...

Re: Gritty caly 3

Both my Calys came kind of gritty. I just added a little oil to the pivot and opened and closed it a bunch of times. I think you'll find that it will smooth out, and soon become just as smooth as the others, if not even smoother.

Re: S110V UKPK ETA ?

Carried my UKPK today actually, and played with it a bit because I forgot how great it is. Great size and ergos, and it's so lightweight.

Re: Chaparral LW Collecting

Taichung works with quite a few steels and there have been some sprints and exclusives from there. I could see the LW Chap as a good candidate for a limited run. This! I've said all along that I'd love to see this as a platform for some sprints/exclusives with different steels. Whether Spyderco wil...

I'd love to see micarta on the Chaparral. There are a few others as well.

Re: CBSA going after flipper type opening

Now let me ask you a question about this in the form of three hypothetical Spyderco customers, each of them from Canada. Now, say each of these Canadians has travelled to Colorado for a nice US visit, and went to the Spyderco Outlet store in Golden, Colorado. Each of them fall in love with the Spyd...

Re: CBSA going after flipper type opening

I'd like to know what Sal's thoughts are on this, and say, the folks at places like Warriors and Wonders. It affects us enthusiasts when we try to import one knife, but it may affect dealers even more, if they inspect and confiscate an entire shipment.

Re: Techno vs G10 Native for EDC

(If knifecenter.com is listening, they need to bring back the N5 LW XHP, but in some color other than the brown they chose) I'd be ok with a brown Native with XHP to match my Manix. KC should also give abbazaba commission, he just made them a sale This is what I get for being on the forum when I ha...

The KC Native for sure. The Techno is cool, but that blade is just too thick for EDC.

Re: Choosing Para 3 Steel

For a standard EDC knife, and if you're looking for corrosion resistance, I agree with Sharp Guy that S30V is a good all round steel. The S110V is good too, but it can be tough to sharpen. I would probably go with the M390 myself though

Re: Spyderco Knife Of The Year 2017

I'm torn between the Pakkawood Delica and the Caly3, but I'm going to give my vote to the Caly3 Hap40 Sprint.

I think the Sliverax will do very well here, and if it wins I will have an excuse to buy one.

I also keep and collect the boxes and would love to be able to get ones for the few that I don't have boxes for. I doubt spyderco will sell me them though.

Re: Grail discussions!!

I think at this point my current grail Spyderco is probably the Superblue Caly 3, hard to find one these days. But I don't know if it would really fall into the 'grail' category, because I would still probably pass one up if it was too expensive.
