Re: Best Spyderco for Mountain Climbing?
A knife really isn't used that much. This. What are you going to cut? I've done a fair amount of outdoor stuff, and I find that in most alpine, non-camping situations, the usefulness of this or that gadget is extremely overrated, knives included. For example, I climbed Mount Audubon (13,200) yester...

Finally bought a dedicated SAR knife!
Recently scored this Saver Salt for a good price! So psyched on it. It's perfect. My Ladybug SE will still always be clipped to my climbing harness (on technical rescues) but I'll now be carrying the Saver on my radio harness on all missions. Yay! Just wanted to share. Excited, I am. http://i.imgur....

This is awesome! Thanks!
Although...I'd love to see a list in alphabetical order by knife model...that way one could search for their favorite knife!

Re: Quick Delica4 Pivot removal question
Many of them I have messed with still have enough play (loose tolerance) in the D-shaped pivot to liner interface to allow it to rock back and forth a bit, which may appear at first glance that it could be rotating back and forth as you open/close. This is 100% true for mine, upon inspection. The p...

Re: Quick Delica4 Pivot removal question
I said this before, but the fact that your pivot rotates when opening/closing means that there is "something up" with the knife... current D4s have a flat on the side of the pivot and a corresponding flat spot in the hole the pivot goes through, the pivot should *not* be able to rotate. M...

Quick Delica4 Pivot removal question
I want to put Loctite on my Delica 4's pivot screw. I would like to completely remove the pivot screw to do so. I don't want to be sloppy and get loctite on the internals. Also, if there is a thread lock compound from the factory, I'd like to remove it before adding my own. Question(s): If I do remo...

Re: New Delica: A chip, loose screws and mega retention. Dud, or anal owner?
I am a fan of gun oil. If I'm oiling a knife that I plan to use on food, then it gets Ballistol. I am a HUGE Ballistol fan. I spray that stuff on everything. Don't worry about using Loctite! I've had Spyderco send me a small bottle of Loctite before with some screws I requested. I think they recomm...

Re: New Delica: A chip, loose screws and mega retention. Dud, or anal owner?
update..... I need some more help, guys. Over the last few days, my D4 has gotten easier and easier to open... so easy that I became uneasy . I could hold the open knife horizontal, and press the lock bar and the blade would freely swing down until the tip was pointed straight down. I noticed that t...

Congrats to the winners, and greetings to the forum, as this is my first post! This is a white box knife and light pic, as I play around with different lighting. http://photos.theoutdoornerd.com/bf/manix-3.jpg I know it's about the knife...but I have that very same penlight and I love it! Cheers.

Old thread, I know...but if any story deserves repeating, it's this one. Nice work man, and thanks for your time and effort both in the field and in training. Re: Green Tenacious two-week military use report
Nice write up! Just curious, how do you carry it? Tip up or tip down? Which pocket(s)? etc? I usually carry my knives tip up, right front pocket for EDC. When I am at work (delivery driving) I like to carry a knife in my left pocket, as I need a flashlight and pens in my right pocket. When moved to ...

Re: New Delica: A chip, loose screws and mega retention. Dud, or anal owner?
OK...using it. I feel the fool as it's already getting noticeably less stiff. I was freakin out for nothing I suppose. On my pull down scale, I'm reading about 5-6 oz less force required to overcome the handle retention than approximately 2000 opening ago. Ha. Should just get better with time...like...
