Re: "Tac NWO" Native 5 clone.

Actually I googled tacnwo and this thread came up so I signed up in order to comment. It's a great knife. I get the negative comments about the trademark infringement. And no I'm not tacnwo, I'm just a consumer of Spyderco knives as well as other brand and non brand name knives. No need to bust out...

Re: "Tac NWO" Native 5 clone.

Not to mention that TACNWO pulled the product after I warned him of the legal risk it was putting him in, and the fact that he explicitly denied being affiliated with the company even though nobody asked or accused him

Re: "Tac NWO" Native 5 clone.

The fact that you support this practice just to get cheap merchandise does not speak very highly of your character. I should have been less subtle. He's not just supporting it with his purchase - it's obvious that Bakedtundra is TACNWO. Look at his signup date and post activity: a day after the lin...

Re: "Tac NWO" Native 5 clone.

As long as I'm doing this, let's compare the copy for each knife, shall we? Quotes presented back-to-back: The Native 5 represents an evolution in American knifemaking with a bold G-10 handle and nitrogen-hardened CPM S35VN blade. The JOSAR TAC-26 features a bold G-10 handle and nitrogen-hardened CP...

Re: "Tac NWO" Native 5 clone.

I have a benchmade with a round thumb hole. Benchmade uses the round hole with Spyderco's permission. The details of that deal aren't public, but the agreement is longstanding. Spyderco also permits a few custom makers to use the round hole as well. I think the key word here is "permission,&qu...

Re: "Tac NWO" Native 5 clone.

Bakedtundra, You misunderstand me. I'm not making an argument about the morality of buying clones. First of all it's indefensible, but more importantly a subforum dedicated to spotting clones so that Spyderco can take appropriate legal action certainly isn't the place to have that discussion. I'm si...

Re: "Tac NWO" Native 5 clone.

I own a native 5 and recently purchased their JOSAR tac-26 and it has some similarities but it's far from a clone. The handle is completely different from my native 5... Um... unless your "tac-26" is radically different from the one pictured on the website, this is a flagrant, 1:1 clone. ...

Re: New steel for FRN, options, Go !

Sal expressed interest in a sprint run of the Endura/Delica line in SRS15 Japanese powder tool steel in another thread: Hi Marius, I've used it. Nice chemistry. Nice performer. I'd like one and you'd like one, that's two. Let's see if there is more interest? We'd probably do the Endura family in a s...

I'd be in for a Dragonfly, and possibly a Delica as well depending on the color.

Re: Time for New, More Advanced Spyderco Pocket Clips

DLC deep carry sturdy wire-clip and I'm good to go. Inconspicuous, strong enough, not prone to snagging. No milled no shiny no leaving too much handle sticking out of pocket. The solution already exists. I agree, that sounds like an ideal clip. But the spoon clip is standard on many models and will...

Re: Time for New, More Advanced Spyderco Pocket Clips

The only real gap in Spyderco's current crop of clips is a deep-carry, spoon type clip. Something that fits the current three-screw clips as found on the Delica, Paramilitary, etc., but loops over the top. Obviously there's a demand, as several enterprising makers offer aftermarket solutions. The ad...

For anyone who is willing to check their records and preordered from knifecenter... Can you tell me when you placed your order and whether you have had your order filled yet? It would be appreciated. Re: Another big fat tribute to mr. Gayle Bradley

http://imgur.com/ is the best image hosting site on the internet today. You don't need an account, it's simple to use with a proven track record, and unlike photobucket which is now holding their user's images hostage, imgur continues to be ad supported and therefore free to use.

Re: Skeletonizing To Death

Not sure why they did it. Rigidity, I think. Just look at the old Native, though. Nice and thick FRN and still light. Exactly. All these other answers are silly. These are brand-new molds for these handles (made to be thicker and linerless), and it would have probably been cheaper to NOT add the po...

Re: Wharncliffe Endura: Likely or not? Do you want?

Eh, the Endura just isn't as good a knife as the Delica. I'd rather see a redesign than another line extension. Don't get me wrong - I love the size and the features but it needs some ergonomic tweaking to reach the greatness of the Delica IMO. Also, unlike more sinuous blade shapes I don't think wh...

Re: Sharpmaker rod trueness question?

Because you're sharpening a curved edge (unless you own exclusively wharncliffe blades) against a flat rod, the metal doesn't contact the stone uniformly across its whole surface and tends towards its center. Perfectly natural and expected; it's just geometry!

I appreciate and enjoy the youtubers who make videos with self-awareness, intelligence, and a sense of humor.
