Re: Sharpening a Vagabond

When it comes to small fixed blades in this class nothing will ever come close to the Bill Moran Drop point. It is light and sharp. It comes with a fantastic sheath. It just can't be beat for an all around slicer. The Moran is probably one of the best knives ever created for the serious hiker due to...

Re: Sharpening a Vagabond

Sharpening with a brick. Very interesting. I won't even try it unless I have to. Kind of like opening a food can with concrete, but it is good to know it works.

Re: Sharpening a Vagabond

The Vagabond was a knife I could never get over the looks of. I may be old school, but a fixed blade goes in a sheath. Any handle-sheath contraption and I am out. A fixed blade needs to draw quickly. That's it. I have looked at the Vagabond over the years and it is like a hobby knife for cutting bal...

Re: Native: Maximum Field Use Limits?

Yes, you could. Ancient people butchered animals with stone tools. The Native is really good compared to obsidian and chert.

Re: Stretch or Endura - which one to choose?

I own both, but think the Stretch is a better everyday carry knife. It really packs max blade length into a slightly smaller handle.

Re: What is the "HOLY GRAIL" of Spyderco knives?

If there could be such a thing as "the" Holy Grail of Spyderco knives, it would have to be Sal's original hole opener "concept model" that Eric shows us at 3:18 in the first Shop Tour video. https://youtu.be/JlsoX_Hkd1c I agree. That knife is truly the Holy Grail. The only one w...

Re: What is the "HOLY GRAIL" of Spyderco knives?

I have been working on my Holy Grail quest. For me there are 3 that really come to mind. The number one, is the 25th Anniversary Delica. Next for me is the C22 Walker. Lastly, I feel the jigged bone Jess Horn. These 3 knives really for me represent the Holy Grails of Spyderco. I hope to get all 3. I...

Re: Need More Smaller, In The Field Sharpening Tools

I think what ever it is, for me, it has to be Diamond. If you are field sharpening a mirror finish is not of a high priority. I just need something that is going to quickly sharpen a knife. I just bring a diamond rod from my sharp maker if go some where and I think I will need to sharpen a knife. It...

Re: Why did the D'Allara discontinue?

I had a D'Allara a long time ago. I thought it was an amazing knife. But for me to carry just to big and heavy. I find I go back to the knife that rides in the pocket well at this point in my life, because I spend more time carrying them then using them. Archimedes you sort of surprise me!!?? I rem...

Re: Getting more friendly with the Slysz Bowie

The only thing I'd say is strange about the F&F on this one, is the soft finish on the spydie hole. I'm one of those who likes the "crisp" edges, and I would think they'd help you open this design especially since there's no hump. Anyone else agree on this? I never really thought abou...

Re: Getting more friendly with the Slysz Bowie

It is one of those knives, that for me, is perfect. It really brought me back to Spyderco. I was like, why spend thousands on a custom, when here is a knife that is better than a lot of customs. It is a great design that coupled with superior manufacturing gives a user all he wants. It blurred the ...

I may buy 8 and use them as steak knives. What a cool set of steak knives they would be.
