Re: Hello, why do you guys like Spyderco?

Spyderco makes a knife for just about anyone. Different locks, slipjoints, handle size and shapes, thumb ramps, no thumbramp, bearings, washers, flippers, choils, no choils, you name it. One of my favourite things about Spyderco is all the steels they use! Cruwear being my fav! Then, if you find a k...

Re: Smock Anticipation

Thanks for the info TazKristi. I’m waiting here in Canada for a dealer to get some, we already have to wait a couple extra weeks as it is, so it’s good to know more are on there way. Assuming border services doesn’t cause a problem, I assumed being a regular production item that I’ll get one eventua...

Re: The Tactical Bottle Opener: Spyderco ClipiTool Standard

That’s pretty neat but doesn’t it dig into your hand in use? Digs less into my hands than the compression lock, spyderg. Maybe it’s my hand size and shape but I can’t seem to find a grip that the PM2 lock digs in in any way. I do find the handle a little cramped. You can see where my palm rests so ...

Re: Just one problem with wire clips

I find deep carry clips in general seem to catch on things more, not sure why but I’ve only had that happen to me with deep carry? I guess it’s because they tend to have quite a bit less tension. I like deep carry on some knives but for me retention and comfort are more important factors. I also val...

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!

So I’m typically the guy asking for a stronger detent. I was thrilled with my Cruwear PM2 having twice the detent strength of my older black coated s30v version. The main reason I don’t carry my Gayle Bradley often is a weak detent. But my most recent Spydies have been the Rhino and the Amalgam. Bot...

Re: Knives that dominate your pockets over Spydercos?

I have a few non Spydies that make their way into the rotation, but really the only one that regularly pushes a Spydie out is kinda sorta a Spydie anyway. My custom Smock SK23, and when they release the Spyderco Smock it’ll mess that up a bit.

Re: Do Spyderco Knives Have No Flaws?

They definitely don’t filter criticism here. They actually seem to welcome it! Spyderco listens to their customers, and makes improvements based on feedback. Sure, most of us here are fanboys, and girls, so you’ll see a lot of praise but at the same time we are a very critical bunch who want perfect...

While I'm patiently waiting for a ClipiTool with an M390 or S90V blade, I'll use this:

Re: CRU-WARE or CTS-XHP ?

My favourite steel is Cruwear. For my uses, it stays sharp longer, and takes an edge easier. No rolling or chipping. Now I will say I’ve been thoroughly impressed with ctsxhp as well. It holds a great edge but I find it takes a little more work to touch it up. Also I’ve found it not quite as tough. ...

Re: Tanto PM2 Support Thread

Not into Tantos, just not a useful blade shape for me. I’d much prefer a Spyderco “Razel”. But it does make sense for them to do it. Along with the idea from the sheepsfoot thread, why not put out some options? I can’t see it costing too much really. All they have to do is a quick cad drawing to che...

Re: POLL: Would you buy a sheepsfoot PM2?

I would have a few years ago when my work required a strong tip, I’d have jumped on one then! Nowadays I prefer a pointy tip so I said no. I’m also not interested in the Tanto, I just don’t find them a useful blade shape for me. I’d much prefer a Spyderco version of a Razel than a Tanto.

Re: Advantages of a hollow grind?

You can sharpen it more times than a ffg before you need to consider reprofiling. I suppose it’d cut through some materials better but I’m guessing most of us don’t encounter them on a daily basis otherwise we’d all want hollow grinds. For my uses I typically don’t notice much a difference as long a...

One of the best looking mods I've seen in a while. Well done!
Thnx, I’m happy with it and it’s keeping me distracted while I wait for a Smock.

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!

Love the knife, blade shape is phenominal. I love nearly everything about it.The only issue I have is that it eats my finger when I flip it. I cannot seem to flip it more than 3 or 4 times and I rake my finger across the lock and I stop playing with it. anyone else having this issue? It noticed it ...

Re: Pros & cons of Cruwear?

Cruwear is hands down my favourite steel. I’ve got a Manix2,(it was my first Spydie!) and a PM2 in Cruwear. Also an Enigma slipjoint in US2000 which is very similar. I find it easy to touch up and sharpen though it rarely needs it as it holds a great edge. In my experience it is not at all chippy an...

As a lefty I find it fantastic! Left handed Spydie flick. Easy to pinch and slow roll thumb opening. Closing is simple, either two step or flick closed.

Re: Show your mods!

Thanks. I love that clip point, and your mod looks great. Thnx, I did tweak it a little from the first pics I posted. Think I’m happy with it now. I really like clip points too, they just have a look to them. I’d grab that 74 from TSA myself but too hard to justify a third knife on the same frame a...
