Buck; I carried a 501 for almost twenty five years before discovering Spydercos. It still locks up tight and takes a good edge, but Spydies are just so much easier to open. In addition, their original Fillet knife is my favorite carving knife, and my close to forty year old Caper my favorite paring ...

There are two prime reasons for these laws. First, is that there is a natural tendency among lawmakers to attempt to solve problems (real or imagined) by passing laws against things. The theory is that, even though you cannot make it impossible for a criminal to obtain something, by cutting off all ...

Oh yeah, I could go for that, think the 2000 and 2003 catalog covers would make great T-shirt art too!

VW, pretty sure the artwork from that poster was used on the '98 dealer catalog cover, have one here.

Well, since you already have stainless, G-10, FRN and aluminum handled Spydies, my suggestion would be to go for either a jigged bone, titanium or micarta handled one. The Kiwi in jigged bone is a sweet little gent's knife with excellent workmanship that gives the look and feel of an traditional poc...

When I first saw a picture of the C27 Horn, I knew I had to have one. I bought mine on eBay for $270 about two months ago after watching a couple go for well over that. The last one that sold there brought less, and my only regret is that I could not justify buying a second one, or it would have sol...

If it is an FRN or micarta Jester, attaching a clip would be difficult or impossible as it would mean screwing into fairly thin plastic. If it is stainless, it "might" work. Best chance would be using the clip from a Navigator, it's the smallest, smaller even than the one on a Toad, and se...

No Alberghini, I don't. Just was passing along some info I had seen and filed away for future reference. Right now sticking to lockback Spydies, but since I'm left handed it's nice to know which ones are ambi.

Nice lanyard Jeff, I don't think you overdid it at all. Funny thing, I've been playing around with lanyards for Kiwis myself this weekend. In response to Ken's request, will post a pic of them. And for CKE, think this is the ball knot pic you're looking for. The darn thing drove me nuts till someone...

I'm left handed, so some of my preferences reflect that. It has to be a lockback, partly because it is the only lock I really trust, and partly because it is the most ambidextrous. It has to be plain edge, I do not find serrations either esthetically pleasing, or helpful for the tasks I normally use...

Logic tells me that in the long run, a pristine specimen of the non engraved version will probably have a higher value. The reason being that a larger percentage of them will be purchased as "users" so fewer "virgin" ones will exist twenty or thirty years down the road. Paul

Well, the clip can be mounted on either side, and the compression frame lock is a lot more lefty friendly than a liner lock. Some folks even say it is better suited for LH use than RH use. The only caveat, according to folks who have tried to move it, is that the clip screws are held in place with p...

I love "natural" materials, jigged bone, stag, and wood are at the top of my list. My JB Kiwi is my workday EDC knife. On the weekends, it's either my FRN Native, or FRN Calypso in my pocket. Like both those handles a lot, the Native even more since I modified it a bit to expose the entire...

You've picked three very nice knives to choose from there Thor. Not sure how the laws are in Finland, but if size is not an issue I'd personally go with the Native. The original Native is the smoothest knife I've ever handled, it's the easiest to both open and close one handed. The Native III is alm...

My personal opinion, admittedly based to some degree on things other than knives, is that surface texture and, to a lesser extent, shape, are far more important determinants of whether something feels slippery or not than is material. As an example, I love jigged bone and stag as handle materials, b...

Almost all of the dealers who sell regularly on eBay, and maybe half of the private sellers there accept PayPal, a few of the smaller dealers and a the rest of the private sellers do not, mostly because the seller has to pay a fee to PayPal. I do not think there is one legitimate US based seller who...
