Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?

Here in DE there are (to keep it simple) 3 options that are legal to carry. All 3 are limited to maximal blade length of 120mm (what, honestly, is not something that limits my personal choices) 1) fixed blades 2) slipjoints 3) locking knives that require BOTH hands to open. I only carry a fixed blad...

Re: EDC recommendation: Native 5 LW – S30V or SPY27?

Before you completely switch course - Chaparral is just a different knife than the N5 even if both were designed for general EDC carry. N5 has a more robust (thicker) blade, more hand-filling handle. Chap is more of a Gentleman's carry for me. Both are great. If you do not have a dedicated type of u...

Re: Reveal 15: Shivering with Anticipation

Since most of the knives in the Reveal 14 are yet to hit the shelves, I am not all that much in the hurry for the 15. In the 14 Sypderco has (and IMO it was a good decision) focused on rolling out steels (that they have spend a lot of time and money to develop) in several existing models. I would pr...

Re: What knife do you actually carry and use the most?

Living in Germany (and having most knife-use around the house) there is quite a difference for me between 'most carried' and 'most used'. Most carried: - UKPK BD1N drop point in yellow FRN scales (outside-work-carry) --> eventually a Spy27 or Magnacut UKPK MAY replace it - Urban BD1N in black FRN sc...

Knife Lounge - the owner (Maxi) is a wonderful person and a proper knife nut. They also have a brick and mortar store in Hamburg. She helped me to order Spyderco knives 🍴 n the past that were hard to source.

Re: Knife Joker forest green para 3 LW

I have a soft spot for the Para3 LW even though the handle is too short for my hand and there is actually not reason for the blade to be quite as thick. Yet - all together it makes for a very enjoyable blade.

Re: New UKPK imminent?

Honestly, with BD1n, LC200, MagnaCut and Spy27 - there is not much left to be desired. I know - some are yet to arrive - but we all know they are coming and are not sprint runs. We all will be able to get one or more eventually.

Re: Sharpening a bread knife?

I wanted to post on this one since a while. We have (and really like) Mac Superior (AUS8) bread knife. It has a continuous wave (no sharp teeth) and gently curved blade and is a joy to use. When the time came to sharpen it - I took it to the CBN rods on the Sharpmaker. The cutting edge was originall...

Re: Any interest in a sprint/exclusive crucarta Gayle Bradley 1?

Do you mean the top of the handle? Not the spine of the blade in the middle of your palm? I have never noticed that in use. I know it is extremely personal, but I find the GB2 one of the most comfortable handle shapes to use right behind the Manix behind the choil. Just to make my opinion more cled...

Re: Any interest in a sprint/exclusive crucarta Gayle Bradley 1?

At some point I had two GB1 knives - bought sourced well after the model was discontinued. I did not keep them as the slippery carbon fiber / G10 scales did not give the feel of security and together with the shallow finger choil AND too heavy butt/handle the knife felt unbalanced in hand and kinda ...

Some interesting discussions. I also think that we would be basically looking at a sprint-like release with some Spyderco insignia on it. Anything beyond that is not realistic - with one possible exception. If Spyderco has a new model in the pipeline, then they could also introduce it like a forum k...

Re: Blue Nishijin Stretch2 XL Damascus

Oh, now I understand what the fuss is all about. OK, that is not great to get blade hitting the lanyard tube. From the practical point of view - could't one use a dremel with a cutting disc and make a grove in the lanyard tube - thus solving the issue without removing the tube? I am aware that from ...
