Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Not Shawn obviously, but I'd try the Atoma plates or DMT Diaflat plates for this application. If you want you could also use the bonded Diamond 'stones' like the Nano Hone/Naniwa/etc., but a perfectly flat fixed abrasive on a plate is going to get sharper in my experience than something that releas...

Re: EDC recommendation: Native 5 LW – S30V or SPY27?
Centering is one of the easier things to fix, assuming the blade isn't out of true. Plenty of tutorials on YouTube. One of the easiest methods I found reliable is: 1. Note which side the blade favors when closed 2. Loosen screws on the handle 3. Open the knife and bend the blade sideways towards the...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
I'd guess similarly as the "polyhedral tungsten carbide" from sandrin, so diamond lapping films or other soft base diamond abrasives, so that it doesn't chip the edge. But I might be wrong

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?
We have pretty lenient knife laws where I live, so I'm usually not stopped by law. I also am pretty discreet with my knife use, plus mostly use knives not that publicly, so perception is also not a problem. The only real thing that makes me carry smaller knives is that very few good (subjectively of...

Re: New Sprint Run Hopefuls to Consider
Surprised no one mentioned the Kapara yet, would love a new config, something like: 1. Spy27+Sapphire AluTex (blue twill CF) 2. MagnaCut+Silver AluTex (silver twill CF) 3. Some other nice PM steel with any of the Fat Carbon/CarboQuartz/TechnoCarbo flavors (apart from the toxic/jungle ones, not a fan...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
I threw some money by the window to test something out, I'll report on how well it behaves once I've sharpened a couple of knives on it. I found a resin bonded diamond stone on aliexpress. Supposedly 1000 grit (lowest they had...) and 20cm long, so good benchstone size. It was only 35€, that's what...

Re: Size & Weight Ratios for Selected LW Knives
I was just comparing my big blades from Spyderco and I noticed that my Resilience has the most edge out of them (Military 2 and Police 4 LW were the other two). The Resilience LW S35VN has following specs: Weight 4.5oz (128g) Blade Length 4.25" (108mm) Edge Length4.25" (108mm) Closed Lengt...

Micro/Extra Small - Things like a Dragonfly or a keychain victorinox, when light weight and small size AND/OR legality and social acceptability are the most important (Too) Small (for my taste) - anything below 3,3", the Bugout is the absolute smallest I'd use 3,3"-4" - Enough for wha...

Re: Food Safe Lube/Grease for pivots?
I had good luck with jujube oil. Better glide/action than mineral oil, perfectly food safe, can be used for massage or skin care. On the other hand it tends to polimerize in cold conditions and is a bit tricky to clean out when it does.

Re: G10 Color for SPY27 Models
Just received the new Military 2 and, for me at least, it's a really big step up:
- more comfortable
- more fidget friendly
- better action
- clip position! (Tip down = )
So all the more reason for more flavors of the Millie 2!

facebook, messenger and all of meta does it too. Whenever I copy links from any of the social media I prune the tracking bull manure, good both for privacy and ease of reading (esp. the meta ids are absurdly long and make the links barely legible)

Copper itself maybe doesn't smell, but it reacts with Your sweat or something and creates some compound with a specific coppery/metallic smell. Re: Top Steels and Scales for another Kapara sprint?
I'd go for anything other than micarta and S30V. MagnaCut and Blue/Green/Puprle Alutex would be best but an interesting flavor of FatCarbon and a nice modern, powder metallurgy steel like SPY27/S90V/CPM154/S45VN would also be nice

You could grind down the spine of the blade so that the new tip ends up within the handle. You will lose a couple mm of length though. And this issue will return

Re: MULE TEAM™ Future Predictions
With CPM-M4 being bang on the optimal toughnes/edge retention balance line I seriously doubt that this steel could be better in all parameters. Maybe in some really particular, obscure, carpentry scenario where a very specific edge retention matters more than general (as in very little abrasive wear...
