This is a very cool idea for a thread. I will certainly be following. I just recently got a Sharpmaker as well. It is fairly simple to use. Be sure to watch the included DVD at least once before starting.

Watch the DVD that comes with the Sharpmaker. I messed with it before watching and it was a total waste of time. Sal does a great job showing you how to use the Sharpmaker. It's definitely worth watching. I also practiced on my cheap kitchen knives before sharpening my nice folders.

I have never tried it, but I don't see why not. The nice thing about having the polishing wheel is that you can polish other blades after you are done fixing this one.n

I use a buffing wheel and some black or green compound depending on the level of rust. I got my buffing wheel at Harbor Freight on the cheap and it does the job just fine.

I am truly obsessed with leathermans and collect and carry many. I am trying to accumulate one of each model they have ever made. I am sure I will be working on this for some time. As far as models with pocket clips go, I really like the Freestyle for something small and light. I also have the pocke...

I also own one of these and enjoy it very much. I am curious to see your impression of the knife as you use it more. I know you mentioned owning other Spydercos, what else are you used to carrying?

Thanks for taking the time to do a review for us.

Seriously! Next to Spyderco my great knife obsession is Leatherman. I would love to see what Spyderco would do with a true Multitool.

I hit the screws with a heat gun for about 30 seconds to loosen up the thread lock compound, then just used two other leatherman pliars to unscrew it. I held one side in place and turned the other. I then clamped the tweezers to the key with some locking pliars and used a bench grinder and Dremel to...

Chisel Grind?

I usually avoid chisel grind blades because I perceived them as being hard to sharpen. Today I was doing a key mod on my leatherman micra (it now holds a copy of my house and car key!). Before I did the mod, I hit the micra on the Sharpmaker. I typically carry a deticated main...

Thank You! Sharpening Success

I have been lurking on this site for the last few months. I own a collection of 5 Spydercos and a bunch of knives from other makers. I purchased a Sharpmaker a few months ago, and was struggling to get good results with it. I read MANY threads on here about sharpening and today I finally achieved so...
