Re: Question about lanyard holes.........
Personally, I won’t buy a ”work” folder without a lanyard hole. I attach a float or lanyard to all of my work knives so any design without a lanyard hole is a non starter for me. Sometimes people label certain design characteristics as “completely useless” when what they really mean is “completely u...

Re: It's About Time For: A Full SE Catcherman
I am super happy that they gave us another sprint of the Catcherman. It’s a model that I never had a chance to own so I’m grateful for the opportunity! Given the intent of the design, my first choice would be PE, but the CE of the sprint doesn’t bother me since the CE portion is close enough to the ...

Re: Boating and lanyards
I’ve donated thousands of dollars of gear to the sea gods, haha. I started using these years ago and they have worked perfectly and saved both my knife and my phone (in a waterproof case) multiple times. https://i.imgur.com/S5Dy8FS.jpg Lanyards are fine for “boating” IMO but when landing a big fish ...

Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?
So wanted to hear some input on this. I’ve been completely enamored with the Stretch XL since I first saw the prototype at the Blade show a few years ago. Wonderful design and IMHO a more refined design than any of the previous Stretches. I didn’t need any more VG10 in my life but i said from the be...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run
I was sooooo sad!!! I have wanted this knife FOREVER, but this was discontinued before my time here. When I saw the announcement several months ago I was overjoyed. But….I did what I always do and procrastinated until the last minute. By the time I acted they were all gone. Then I found one! Haha. ...

Hey Nick, I was trying to message you last year about something but lost your contact. I don’t remember what it was, hah, but hit me up anyway one day. If you don’t have my number DM me on here.

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin
I think a lot about Cliff Stamp saying in so many words to make the edge thinner until it starts to damage and then make it make it thicker until it stops damaging. I came to the comments just to say that Cliff Stamp would have approved of this video. :grin-smiling-eyes I miss Cliff. I think of him...

Re: Serrations for cutting hard plastic?
I’d favor a pe wharncliffe for that job. I often cut two liter bottles in half to make water scooped for the boat and kayak. PE makes a cleaner straighter cut. And if it’s sharp it actually makes a more efficient cut than se on that material. If your knife is sharp you shouldn’t need to be “sawing” ...

Re: Salt 2 vs Native 5 Salt
if you want robust, the native is great. if you want a slicer, the salt is noticeably better. the salt is also noticeably more comfortable carrying iwb. both are great knives, but very difference in use and carry. Yeah, this is a pretty good summation IMO. I have used both extensively and like both...

I love seeing EVERY new “new” knife and new “old” knife in the reveals, but honestly, the Stretch XL Salt is the only one I really care about right now.

Re: "sharpener's steels"
I have my favorites (cruwear, lc200n, hap40, etc) that I feel are steels that just WANT to get sharp, but honestly, they’ll mostly all get to the same level. For me, the outliers are not the ones with the BEST sharpening response but rather the ones with the WORST. Two that come to mind are s90v and...

Use them every day on my salt knives to attach a float. Almost never use them on any other knives but would always rather have one than not just to have the option.

Re: Big Belly Blades
Never heard of it :thinking Seems like it would be easy to cut through the skin if you're not really careful. With furbearers like coyote, fox, and everything smaller, large sweeping cuts aren't needed. A pointy tip is needed for fine work around the head/face and for the starting cuts down the leg...

Re: Big Belly Blades
I use them for saving money 😉 No real use for one personally, except maybe for an Ayoob or models that somehow keep the tip low in relation to the handle. I suppose a Military kinda has a lot of belly but negative blade angle keeps the tip low. I guess I have more of a preference for low blade tips...

Re: Thumb ramp or naw?
I’m fine with thumb ramps…even prefer them on some designs. The problem I have is when they are too far back and force my thumb to rest in an awkward position when it wants to rest further forward on the blade. The Mule Team knives are an example of this. I know they probably fit some hands perfectl...

Re: magnacut gb2 salt
I would love to own the finished product but I’m not so sure the GB is an ideal platform for a Salt knife. Lots of liners and extra steel make it that much more difficult to achieve the corrosion resistance necessary to fall under the “Salt” moniker.

Re: Salt handle color and how it changes as you dive
Interesting stuff. Looks to me like pink and green are two of the best for maintaining their “high visibility”. Though neat, I think deep depth knife visibility is probably overrated as a salt knife characteristic. If you’re diving and drop your knife it’s going to be right next to you on the bottom...
