Re: Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?
For me, the overall design of the knife trumps the blade steel. I just purchased a Stretch 2 XL Salt SE, and I'm loving it. I was torn between the Stretch or a Native Chief, but the Stretch's blade profile and ergonomics won me out. However, that's assuming the blade steel will perform adequately in...

Re: Serrated Edge for Hunting?
I consider the Stretch 2 XL Salt PE to be the best folding hunter available for exactly the reasons you listed. It wouldn't occur to me to choose the SE over the PE for hunting, but I'm very interested in the results of your testing. My educated guess is that it'll work okay, but not as well as the...

Re: H1 Fixed blades
I wish I hadn't missed the Schempp Rock Salt. I would love to have one in my collection. I have no doubt that it would make an excellent outdoor tool. As for a serrated version, I wonder if the scallops would weaken a large chopping knife. I say that because Youtuber "Joe X" destruction te...

Re: Serrated Edge for Hunting?
I would suggest reading the sticky thread on sharpening teeth and bring your "stock" edge to the "tuned" edge that the Sharpmaker can provide, before your test. Please share your thoughts and experience with the rest of us. sal Hi Sal, I discovered that thread last year and used...

Serrated Edge for Hunting?
I just received my Stretch 2 XL Salt serrated from GP Knives, and I'm loving it. I can't help but think that it would be a near perfect folding hunter. It has: 1) Excellent ergonomics for a secure, comfortable grip. 2) Grippy texturing, which also promotes a secure grip, especially when coated with ...

Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll
I'm guessing this thread was prompted by the latest issue of the Spyderco Byte. Great article on tip up vs tip down carry. I really enjoyed it. As for me, it depends on the knife. For instance, I prefer tip down for long knives like the original Military. However, I also take into account factors li...

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE
I'd like to see the Manix 2 LW and Military 2 in full SE. You´re lucky, the Millie 2 actually does offer (will offer? Don´t know, I am more of a Millie 1 kind of guy) a serrated version, see pic below.. And yes, I still don´t understand why the Manix 2 SE ffg does not have an SE version ... even st...

For what it's worth, an image of the H2 blade where the contamination was the most significant. On a closer inspection with my camera, it doesn't appear as though there is any pitting. Re: Victorinox photo and discussion thread!
I've owned and used Swiss Army Knives ever since my grandmother bought me a Victorinox Camper when I was 14. Over three decades later, SAKs continue to be a personal favorite. I've been carrying this Vic Climber for a few years now. I bought it with the Stay Glow scales because they don't easily scr...

Re: Goo on the Edge - How to Manage
I use Goo Gone. It's impressive stuff. Put some on a cloth or paper towel, and it will wipe the adhesive residue off a blade like warm butter.
WD-40 also works great due to its high solvent volume, but it's not as safe or pleasant to use.

I like exclusives and sprints. Sometimes I like them for the steel choice, but most of the time it's the color that draws me.

Thanks for recording your usage and impressions, Evil D. I've been hoping for serrated K390 since the Police 4 was originally released, so it makes for very interesting reading.
