Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll

I'm guessing this thread was prompted by the latest issue of the Spyderco Byte. Great article on tip up vs tip down carry. I really enjoyed it. As for me, it depends on the knife. For instance, I prefer tip down for long knives like the original Military. However, I also take into account factors li...

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE

I'd like to see the Manix 2 LW and Military 2 in full SE. You´re lucky, the Millie 2 actually does offer (will offer? Don´t know, I am more of a Millie 1 kind of guy) a serrated version, see pic below.. And yes, I still don´t understand why the Manix 2 SE ffg does not have an SE version ... even st...

For what it's worth, an image of the H2 blade where the contamination was the most significant. On a closer inspection with my camera, it doesn't appear as though there is any pitting. Chinstrap, thanks for sharing your experience and the pictures. Your posts have me watching this thread with inter...

Re: Victorinox photo and discussion thread!

I've owned and used Swiss Army Knives ever since my grandmother bought me a Victorinox Camper when I was 14. Over three decades later, SAKs continue to be a personal favorite. I've been carrying this Vic Climber for a few years now. I bought it with the Stay Glow scales because they don't easily scr...

Re: Goo on the Edge - How to Manage

I use Goo Gone. It's impressive stuff. Put some on a cloth or paper towel, and it will wipe the adhesive residue off a blade like warm butter.

WD-40 also works great due to its high solvent volume, but it's not as safe or pleasant to use.

Re: poll: preference of production or exclusives/sprints?

I like exclusives and sprints. Sometimes I like them for the steel choice, but most of the time it's the color that draws me.

Thanks for recording your usage and impressions, Evil D. I've been hoping for serrated K390 since the Police 4 was originally released, so it makes for very interesting reading.

Re: Salty Stretch?

That's a really good idea. The Stretch was designed to be a folding hunting knife for field dressing game, and I believe a Salt version would allow it to excel in that application. I say this for two reasons. First, blood is very corrosive due to its high salt content. But when it's getting dark, an...

Re: Thick vs Thin handles

The Pacific Salt (original) and the PM2 have good handle thickness for most of my cutting applications. They feel comfortable in the pocket, yet I am able to maintain adequate control during use.

If I need a more substantial handle for heavy cutting, I will usually reach for a fixed blade.

Re: Full SE versus combo edge?!

I recently purchased a Police with a stainless steel handle and combo edge. It's been a long time since I owned a combo edge, and I'm really enjoying it. When I make a cut, I use the blade as if it had one consistent edge. I don't think about the fact that it has two edge types. For example, if I am...

I love this knife! It's so light and versatile. And the best part is that mine locks up like a bank vault. It has no play in any direction, and the pivot never loosens.

Re: Space Corps knife??

Are we talking about designing a knife for astronauts or for the US Space Force? The reason I ask is because the average US Space Force guardian is never going to launch into space. The majority of them work on terra firma operating satellites, analyzing data, or performing support functions. If we ...

Of the ones you listed, I selected the Chaparral. It fits my hand nicely, and the thin blade makes it a slicing machine.
