Re: Tanto PM2 Support Thread

I'm in,
I'd like the tanto to be more rounded like the lum, not such an American chisel grind tanto but I really like the concept.

Re: Best knife for deer skinning.

I posted this a while back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-Wdwjlu9mY The guy uses a Moran. I would suggest a fixed blade, the mule teams are great. If not I'd go for Spyderco Southfork or a Sprig or the Moran. For a folder I would suggest GB 1 or 2 or a stretch. There was an old post of a guy usin...

Re: Spyderco new FRN Lightweights: What do you think will be the best?

I'm very interested to find out if the FRN models are any wider in the handle than existing G-10 varieties

Re: A Spyderco SAK?? Why not??

I think there is room for a new concept. I like the clipitool and probably will get one in the future. That said I would love one with an upgraded steel. Its really up to market demand but I really like that they have continued to refine the tools. Recently I was in Switzerland and was really disapp...

Re: Thoughts on titanium scales

I like titanium scales, I think the Slyz bowie, mantra, techno, and advocate show the appeal. More and more I like metal because of the ease on pockets and I like the look. Sal had commented at one point that aluminum didn't sell really well. I was interested in anodized handles.

I'll be waiting for the Spyderco LAW tying vise collaboration. Abel has always had cool custom reels.

I came across this video- not really recent but they guy is making great use of a Moran trailing point. If you are sensitive to dead stuff don't watch it.

Re: What was your first Spyderco?

The addiction started with a dragonfly clip-it version vg-10 steel. I made the mistake of asking what the best pocket knife was.

Re: How often do you carry a fixed blade?

I usually keep mine in a drawer at home. Strangely I find I use my fixed blades more often - especially my Southfork. However, its really awkward to belt carry that knife.

Re: Investments

The best advice I have received has been:
1) There is no way to get rich quick
2) You need to spend money to make money. I've invested in some larger funds that have done well. You need to last through several market cycles.
3) Don't get greedy, don't get scared, be in it for the long haul

Re: Horrible topic but important: Why so many suicides?

Our culture is shaped by technology. Look at the medium we are using for this discussion. The online world has lead to a lack of connection and meaningful relationships. This magnifies the isolation of feeling alone and uncared for. Life is precious, it either all counts or nothing counts. Suicide n...

Re: Which model deserves to carry 15V's debut?

With a thread currently going on the Spyderco FB-01 MORAN model I'm thinking that model might also be a good one to do with 15V.

I'd go with the Moran, nice stock thickness. My understanding is Moran wanted a high end steel to make it really perform

Causation and correlation are two different things but often confused. There are always exceptions.

I like Olight, the S1R Baton or the m2t. I have one of their keychain lights and l1reos that have connected to a SAK and is always on me. There are a lot of good deals and Olight has had some fantastic sales on.

I'm waiting to see what the steel is. If something pops up and its A11 or K390 around 3 inches I will grab it. That might lead me to sell my K390 Urban but who knows.

Re: Logging/Wood Cutting Hazards and "Widow Maker" facts?

I've done a lot of camping in the woods. Every time we set up camp we make it rule to look around to see what "widow makers" are around. Its not uncommon to have them come down in light winds. There are a great deal of rotted trees in the forest, its just part of the ecosystem.
