Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Well... I was just going to run the factory edge on this M4 Native, but I got bored tonight so reprofiled it down. The shoulders are knocked back thin as I usually do, but I put the final bevel pretty much at factory angle, as I wanted an edge suitable for rougher use. https://photos.smugmug.com/ph...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
Today was a 5-Spyderco kind of day: AM ukpn carry and used to cut up fruit as part of breakfast. Mid-day SE N5 lw while tending to common space maintenance (heavy gage weed eater line is a tricky cut with only two hands…the self-trim feature wasn’t working) Afternoon alcyone carry while running erra...

Re: Coffee Pour Over Devices?
Actually I do, conical burr grinder in fact but I think either I got a poor quality one or the whole concept was overrated. I went from a cheapo blender blade style grinder to a highly rated conical off Amazon that was a little over $100 if I recall, and it's definitely better than the cheapo but t...

Re: Coarser CBN Stone for Sharpmaker
Isn’t the heart of the matter here, what is the most efficient option for SERRATIONS? I don’t think there is any sort of stone/product that could make the SM more efficient than bench stones or guided systems that have many times more abrasive surface to apply to a plain edge. What, if anything, is ...

I would like to back up Bloke a little! Just as we find “Diamond in the rough” knives (the Byrd hawkbill and harrier 2 are such options for me), there are such options out there in the instant coffee world! I’m planning on quiet a bit of short overnight backpacking/paddleboarding trips with my agin...

Re: Coarser CBN Stone for Sharpmaker
I recently decided to use my SM + Diamond rods to even out the bevel on a brand new alcyone in bd1. The angles from the factory seemed to both be right about 15 based on some light testing using sharpie, but one side had a much larger bevel…enough to make the blade walk while cutting. I figured it w...

Re: Coffee Pour Over Devices?
^ I apologize if my earlier post was interpreted as personal criticism, or criticism at all really! The “espresso-like drink” language is what the aeropress media/documents use, and was the target of my quandary. As for the device, i used mine daily for a long time and was (and still is) a tool to ...

^ You must have been typing at the same time as me! You know, I’ve been using my aeropress occasionally since pretty early on (I think mine was the seconds version of the various materials and markings) and while I certainly enjoy coffee brewed with it, I never really understood the “espresso-like”...

Re: Coffee Pour Over Devices?
I pulled out my aeropress this afternoon to make a small cup. I was lazy and didn’t dig back to see what ratios I prefer, so I just used 13:200, which was close; same grind as what I use for pourover (I might have preferred either a coarser grind or perhaps 11g or 12g to 200 instead)… Has a very sli...

I’m not one to hang out on YouTube, but I’ve spent a fair bit of time watching mr hoffman’s videos. Those and fortnine motorcycle videos seem to be about the only YouTube I can get into!
