Re: Members 2014 Top 10 list

I really enjoyed this question. I usually can't pick just one (or two or three), but 10 seemed like a reasonable number. Below are my top 10 Spydies (out of 26 total). Looking at this list confirms my preference for larger folders (6 of this list, depending on your definition of larger). I also gene...

Re: Post dealer deals here.

Ah, now it makes sense. This is what I did, and so I'm stuck with $15. I also confirmed with Red's Gear that you cannot use more than 1 discount code.

Re: Post dealer deals here.

At Red's Gear, are you guys able to use both the REDSHIGHFIVE code as well as the $10 credit from signing up for the newsletter? I can only seem to do one or the other in the Discount Code entry, meaning I can get at most $15 savings. But it looks like I'm doing something wrong. Used that $20 dollar...

Re: Military in CPM D2 [new to me]

As an amateur history buff, D2 steel is particularly interesting to me since it was developed and first utilized during WW2. I used this knife this past weekend for some yard work. Two things, first the 4" blade and long handle give exceptional reach when cutting dead/decaying plant matter. And...

Re: Military in CPM D2 [new to me]

oh, I'd say some Mother's chrome polish would work on the soap spots also if it's more handy to you than the Flitz...both will get her back looking shipshape (groan)-- I'm done now with the nautical humor :p :spyder: I spent some time with the Flitz and it's better. Not perfect, but it's definitely...

Re: Military in CPM D2 [new to me]

You did well cleaning that thing up...I don't have anything to say directly about D2, but that CruWear Millie is far too clean...get some dirt on that thing so it matches it's cousin better! I took the Cruwear Millie out on a backpacking trip to North Cascades National Park last month as my primary...

Re: Military in CPM D2 [new to me]

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words! Yes, I definitely do feel a greater appreciation for this knife since I had to put in the time to get it cleared up. Also appreciate the thoughts on how to cleanup the patina. I will try the metal polish and some scrubbing to try and remove it. It is really ni...

Military in CPM D2 [new to me]

I don't post much, but I have to share my most recent acquisition. :D I picked up this used Military in CPM D2 over the weekend. I've been casually looking for one of these for quite awhile. My feeling was that this was one of the more accessible (primarily in terms of cost) Military Sprints availab...

Re: Native5 LW

I ordered from this altatac outfit yesterday (thanks sdedalus83 for the tip!) and had a shipping confirmation this morning. But a few hours later I received notification that they were out of stock and refunding my order. A bit disappointing, but not too surprising. No big deal - I will pick one up ...

I put a deep carry clip on my CF M2XL and now it's great. Rivals the Millie for in hand comfort. I didn't really like the "standard" M2 because I felt it was too tall in pocket (the weight of the hollow ground version with solid liners didn't help either) and ended up selling that one. I w...

Afterward, my not-yet-wife felt so bad about it that she tracked down another R2 on the secondary market and got it as a surprise for my birthday! I shudder to think how much she probably had to pay for it. Needless to say, I ended up marrying her! :D Sounds like this actually worked out really wel...

I'm happy that your knives were all there. This is why I am only going to take one knife with me to Vegas next month. I would be crushed if one knife got taken, let alone several. I know. It would have been bad enough to lose just the Cat, which is my most inexpensive and far from my favor Spydie. ...

TSA Near Miss

Today, my family and I flew into Minneapolis. As usual, when packing last night, I agonized over exactly which knives to bring (I have to resist the urge to take entirely too many knives, they must match the anticipated tasks during the trip, and can't be any limited edition or extremely expensive k...

Just a heads-up: Omaha Knife Store has 5 Cruwear Millie's for $200. Yeah, over the typical retail, but they are still available. (I'm not affiliated with this outfit, nor have I ever ordered from them. But I figured my fellow forumites would appreciate a potential source.) http://omahaknifestore.com...

Sounds like this seller has a tremendously hard time keeping their inventory up to date. Very unfortunate. Hopefully everyone gets full refunds without any fuss or the orders are cancelled outright.

I placed an order from this outfit on some knives that were priced too good to be true. After several days of no shipping confirmation, I emailed to inquire about the status. They replied that the price was in error and subsequently cancelled my order (money never exchanged hands since Amazon only t...
