I LOVE VG-10, it's probably my second favorite steel of all time, just behind well done Elmax. Don't get me wrong, I'll buy knives in any high end stainless, but VG-10, Elmax, and H1 are my personal favorites, and I prize them most highly.

I don't mind pinned knives from Spyderco, they hold up well most of the time. The only problem I ever had was the salts, where the pin would loosen with use. I'm also somewhat baffled by the construction of my Centofante memory, it has some sort of screw or bolt with 2 holes in it, spaced perfectly ...

What's on my wishlist?

1. Hungarian Ethnic.

2. Domino.

3. Battle Station.

4. Large sized Kiwi.

Bonus item that wasn't in this thread: The Blue Nishijin and Damascus Stretch sprint. I preordered mine already ;)

Combo edges, carbon steel blades, knives that look like they would hurt to hold.

On the other hand, if Spyderco made a right hand chisel ground knife, I would be ON that.

Okay, Upon seeing that hungarian folder I can only express a single sentiment, ahem: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT!

It's like the Vallottan and the Navaja have been breeding, I HAVE to have that knife!

I hate to be a pest, but I was wondering if any of you saw, and perhaps got pictures of, the new sprint stretch? The one in damascus and blue nishijin? I preordered it a while back and I've been holding my breath for pics. :D

Frankly, I don't see any real difference between my Golden made and Taichung made knives. I looked, were it not for the fact that I KNOW where they came from, I would be unable to tell. I've never seen an Italian Spyderco in person, but I've heard great things. I like Seki City well enough, they occ...

I have an S30V leek, I love it, but it doesn't get much pocket time due to the tip being very fragile. I also have a Kershaw Field Hunter, which is my fixed blade of choice. Most of Kershaw's knives are very nice, IMO. I've used several, and while I don't love every single one, I think their all ser...

So this is just a nilakka with a bad heat treat? Or would you say this is a problem with the model in general?

Mattman: Well I sent them an email asking about it, so I'll know soon enough. Call me nuts, but I dislike sending my knives when I might not get them back is all. *hugs my Police 3 in G-10 close* I am surprised we have finish issues from the starmate, Seki is usually really nice!

Mattman: Ya think? They won't sell directly to NY (I buy though vendors) but I suppose I could shoot them an email about that. If that's the case, I could just buy a Starmate and not worry.

I've never ordered a Starmate in part because of the finish issues. See, I don't have the equipment or skills to mod a knife myself in most cases. I also can't send my knives to Golden because I live in upstate NY and if I send them to Spyderco, I probably won't get them back. So yeah, I need to be ...

My personal favorite would have to be the SE G10 Police. I LOVE that thing. I actually got into SE knives because I find it easier to sharpen them on the sharpmaker, and I loved the enhanced edge retention and cutting ability. Nice thing about SE blades: Even when getting dull, you can still cut stu...

I happen to prefer the saber grind, if only because I've found them to hold an edge longer than an FFG blade. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE flat grinds, but the saber grind is just a personal preference for me.

Okay, while I'm not crazy about Ole' Nutn, I can spare a kind word for him. I feel like he would be a genuinely nice person to meet and talk to at length. He may have an ego, but he seems like he's a nice enough sort. Say what you will about his reviews, and I HAVE, but I feel that genuine niceness ...

If I may interject for a moment, I believe I have a unique angle on this topic. I have Crohn's Disease, and as a result, several people have suggested veganism as a possible treatment for my ailment. While I do appreciate the sentiment, I do not think that would be a good idea for me. I've found tha...
