Yeah, since Spyderco makes probably the besy ceramic sharpening tools around, this would serve as a field hone until one could get home to the Sharpmaker etc. Useful for backpackers, camping, hikers etc.
They make ceramics now that wont pass thru metal detectors now, so no concern there.

I often carry a Salt knife when anticipating a messy situation. It gives me much less hesitation to fully rinse down the knife afterwards. I wash my pacific salt every couple of days in warm soapy water, towel dry, Ballistol, no problem, Never had a difficulty w/ ANY KNIFE Ive kept clean and lubed ...

Well..they're real Spydercos...I checked that out w/ the collector verification "office" at SMKW. I dont remember the name of the "antique" store. They had a seperate knife section for estate collection knives, alot of old CASE products. I do remember sending my son back to SMKW ...

I have two Spyderco Civilians, w/ what appear to be annodized aluminum handles w/ krayton inlays for grip enhancement.

Were these the first produced? I got them at an antique store in TN, after the current models came out...

Yes. Do not sit in a box of chlorine tablets. It's not recommended by the Surgeon General nor Spyderco. Dude...thats freakin' hilarious!! But seriously, somebody DID that? Really did that...I seen a guy soak a ladybug salt in bleach on u-tube for reportedly over 3wks i think, in a jar in his closet...

those "serrated edge sharpener's" you just mentioned are the ones i'm talking about>> they are conical shaped and they fold up on those plastic guard/handles. I've even got a couple of those conical serrated edge sharpeners of theirs in ceramic and they are a nice handy tool for some spec...

The tiger stripes scare the vegetables into submission, they virtually peel themselves. The 10mm blade stock makes the spine great for crushing garlic ... be a bit creative and a Strider is a great kitchen knife ;) Dude---hilarious! Get a 3X3 block of solid marble if you want garlick to submit...10...
