You could be right, Spyderco doesn't want to rush out a product. I recall Sal saying in the past that he would carry and use prototypes during development.

Re: EDC steel advice
I will suggest that 20CV and K390 will be too difficult for you to sharpen. So next you have to decide how much corrosion resistance you need which could steer you to LC200 for instance. Personally I think the characteristics of Cruwear are best for the average user. However VG10 and S30v are good s...

Re: Best way to soften thumb hole?
Sandpaper and a marble or ball bearing. I was thinking something similar. If you have a variety of tools look around for something with a small rounded end like the end of a screwdriver handle, end of a ratchet handle, etc. Then take a small strip of wet or dry sandpaper, stretch it over the rounde...

Re: Unscientific Knife Battles
This is an interesting read. It is good to see people using their knives, I carry my Spyderco knives but don't get to use them as much as I would like, however I cringe thinking about cutting something mushy like an avocado with a folding knife. Which knife is better for the task? This is interestin...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Finally so I can lean more why would someone chose 15v over S90V? They are booth around the same toughness, have about the same edge retention but 15v is not stainless. That's a good question, and a question that I've wondered about also. I think there might be more to it than this. I've seen some ...

Re: Is a DLC coated pm2 with k390 steel and green canvas micarta basically the quintessential folding knife?
I didn’t realize so many people hated dlc! Or micarta for that matter. Or the pm2 at that! I like the PM2 a lot. I like polished paper micarta, polished linen micarta and polished or lightly blasted canvas micarta, I don't like burlap micarta. I don't mind DLC but I would prefer a plain satin blade.

Tempting, but I will keep waiting for the BBB folder, presuming this is not it. BBB folder? Some references here can be obscure. I'll just make an appeal to posters that if you post something like this, you might want to provide a little more explanation to help the members who may not be on the fo...

Re: Okay, so here's my dilemma...
Of the 15 steels you list, most will be hard to find and expensive if you do find one. Some like 154CM you probably don't want to put expensive scales on. Also it depends on your preferences in steels. I think Cruwear and S110V would be relatively easy to find, maybe also M4 and Rex45.

Re: Long overdue Manix XL Sprint run poll
I have one in M4 and I think that is a perfectly good steel for the M2 XL. In some ways I think Cruwear, maybe even Magnacut, would be fitting for this knife. There are lots of other good choices- M4, 4V, K390, Rex45. The XL has already been available in S90V but that would still be a good choice fo...

Re: What do you guys buy and use to see blade edges close up?
I have a clip-on for my glasses that has 2 different magnifying lenses that will pivot down. I bought mine at Harbor Freight but I don't find them on their website anymore. When I'm sharpening I will put some Sharpie ink on the edge and use my magnifying glasses to see where the stones are taking of...

Re: Next Possible Sprint Run, Let's Talk?
We've talked off and on about a LW version of the PM2 and I would guess that eventually there will be one. I think the very next sprint after a LW PM2 is introduced should use that platform. As for steels, I think Magnacut would be a good choice although I would buy Cruwear, M4, 4V, K390, S110V, ...

Re: How much of your collection do you regularly use?
I have a group of folding knives in my collection that I carry, and I actually carry and use all of them or almost all of them. This group includes 4 versions of the PM2 (M4, S110V, K390) and 3 versions of the Manix 2 (M4, Rex45, S110V). I have an old Manix 2 and a Gayle Bradley 1 in my workbench in...

Re: Any carbon steel Spyderco knives?
Are there any Spyderco knives in the more old fashioned carbon steel? Spyderco is a very progressive company and make no or very few models using "old fashioned" steel, but they do use a lot of somewhat esoteric steels, both stainless steel and carbon steels, steels that could be consider...

Re: Why should one buy spyderco knife?
Spyderco knives work very well.
At one point I had a good sized collection of folding knives from a variety of brands. I started buying Spyderco knives and sold all of those others, now except for one lone model of another brand all of the folding knives that I carry and use are Spyderco.

Just saying, I'd love to see an M4 Manix 2 XL with a brushed finish, OD green canvas micarta scales, and a factory titanium cage. To the rest of you... What is YOUR ideal exclusive/sprint? If you hunt around maybe you could find one of the M4 versions in natural jade G10. My favorite exclusive/spri...

Re: Any chance we’ll see another PM2 in K390?
Love my k390 PM2 that was from BBS a few years ago… The PM2 is my favorite platform and K390 is my favorite steel and just curious if we might see any more K390 PM2’s? Depending on what characteristics of K390 you like, you might get by temporarily with S110V (for edgeholding) or Rex45 (for toughne...

Re: 2022 Forum Knife ?
Has the forum knife been based on our suggestions/requests in the past? I would very much like it to be, but I don't think that's been the case. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I think the joke is that there aren't any 2 people in this forum who can agree on the same model and features. For a 2022 ...

Re: Brothers from another mother: Polestar & Manix 2
There is definitely more hand room on the Polestar vs the Manix 2. The Manix 2 fits me perfectly, the Polestar gives me room to grow. How does the Polestar compare to the Tenacious? I like the Tenacious but the handle is just a little bit short for me sometimes. The handles of the PM2 and Manix2 fi...
