My Street Bowie does not appear to be full tang construction. In the OPs post, 2nd pic, if you look carefully you can see the jimping on the blade continue onto the top of the handle where the tang is exposed. The rest of the tang is not visible. so I guess it is a "modified" hidden tang?

I'm with those who argue that kitchen knives should be above average; basically the best you can afford. Why? Because then they are fun to use. That is, if you get knives that really feel good in your hand and that cut superbly. My personal preference is for hand made Japanese blades. You have to fi...

One thing to remember. Machetes, parangs, goloks, etc., at least when I use them, often whack into knots in wood or hit the ground with stones, rocks and other objects that put chips in blades and roll edges. So I like carbon steel that sharpens easily in the field with a file. Nothing fancy is need...

There already seems to be a large number of ethnic working type knives on the market in just about every price niche. I do not think this is a market that Spyderco needs to enter.

Throw away boxes? Never!! I even have the brown butcher paper that my Randall Made Knives came wrapped in. I admit there is a fine line between a hoarder and a collector, but I think I am still a collector.

I tend to change my EDCs every couple of months. Been carrying a BobT and an older Elishewitz custom for about 2 months now. No, I have not lost interest in custom knives at all. In fact, I have occasionally thought of not buying any production knives at all so I could afford one more really nice cu...

The Sage series was a great idea. So far the Sage 2 is my favorite, but they area all very, very good knives.

I use wrist thongs on my fishing knives. Having a knife attached to my wrist has prevented the loss of a knife on more than one occassion.

Well, a new Starmate would be cool. And I'm not saying that I don't own and carry RIL knives. But I agree that knives with scales on one side and a bare lock on the other also strike me as "unfinished."

I don't beat the heck out of my knives, so I never felt the need to buy a Strider. But I was curious enough to pick one up at a show to see how it felt in hand. Answer; very good. I was pleasantly surprised, but not enough to buy one. My favorite "hard use" knifes are Elishewitz models.

I do not think the seller meant to say that he paid MSRP for these knives. He is just offering that number as a guide to help people determine what they think the knives are worth now. Most will be worth less than MSRP, some more.

I would vote for FFG, no more than 3" blade, and either Desert Ironwood, pearl, or mammoth ivory on the handle.

For me, the Kiwi is a terrific gent's knife. It is a small and handy lockback, has bolsters and can sport elegant handle scales. I could go for a very slightly enlarged version, but ditch the clip, please.

My .02 is that it is best to see how a particular knife feels in YOUR hand before buying, if at all possible. Sometimes, with relatively inexpensive knives ( <$100) I will take a chance. For something that costs what a Sebenza runs, I would want to touch before buying. That said, I do like my Sebbie...

I carry a BobT and a Zowada daily. Although I do not usually carry a knife for
SD, the TZ probably could fit that role pretty well. When I feel the need for an SD knife, the TZ is replaced by the Yojimbo, the Street Beat or the PPT.
