Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run

I received it a few days ago and I've mostly used it for some food prep so far. Surprisingly light for such a long knife, and a real slicer too!

Definitely a big knife...

Re: Ikuchi, the best Spyderco folding filet knife?

I can see the Ikuchi being used as a filet knife, but the Catcherman is arguably the king of filet knives in the current Spyderco lineup: the blade is longer and a bit thinner, while the materials used (FRN+LC200N) are more appropriate. Which is no big surprise, since that's exactly what the Catcher...

That one isn't a CE. It is fully serrated. It's easier to see if you enlarge the picture.
Oh, my bad. You do see it better when you enlarge the picture...

I still think a CE blade with serrations near the tip would be interesting, though.

All versions Catcherman.
Quite the collection!

I wonder why there are not more CE knives with the serrations near the tip of the blade, like the second one from the top. Seems like a good idea to me, especially with longer blades.

If clearance prices where a thing in Europe we both would be living in a cardboard box full of spydies under a bridge probably… :squinting-tongue

No you wouldn't.

You would use the carboard box for cutting tests :winking-tongue

Anyone else eagerly awaiting this one?
Quite a few of us, I'd say ;)

I think I may like it even more than my Police LW, but I can't say for sure until I've handled both.

Wow... quite the list we have this year! The Police K390 spyderedge is a surprise (at least to me).

Re: Sharpmaker white stones

I give a few passes on the white rods to touch up my knives after using them, unless they need a full sharpening (which they often don't). I rarely bother with the UF rods anymore though.

Of course, it also depends on the steel: white rods are perfect with VG10 or LC200N, not so much with K390...

Re: Goo on the Edge - How to Manage

I use alcohol on a dedicated microfiber cloth, wiping from spine to edge. It usually does the trick. If not, scrubbing with an old toothbrush (or someone else's ;) ) works wonders.

Re: Are there any models you liked the previous better than the current?

The Native has always been one of the best knife designs ever and I like the current one very much, but the swedge on some of the older versions looked so good :zany

I like the older version of the Jester better than the current one... probably because there isn't a current one!

Re: Best G-Shock platform?

I tried this one. I loved everything about it, so many features ... except I couldn't see the numbers unless the light was perfect. Old eyes not picking up the contrast as well as they used to. All these tacticool watches are lost on me. Give me a standard positive display and I am much happier, an...

Re: Best G-Shock platform?

The GW-7900 should also be close to what you're looking for (solar, atomic, tides & moon phases). It's not as small as the square models but more compact than the "big boys" (Mudman, Pro Trek etc.). The ergonomics are IMO much better than those of the 5600/5610 series (bigger buttons a...

I've been able to get around the legal technicality by never waving the knife around in the air while walking down the middle of the street and screaming at the sky. That's one of the things you should never do.

Very helpful tip! I really have to remember that one... ;)
