https://66.media.tumblr.com/5bd0072da36a975239b384ac3eaccc94/tumblr_pmzxihNtOu1r9gta1_1280.jpg Nice! Just ordered a Northfield trim of that same pattern. How to those Northwoods cut with the saber grind? I've never spent the additional premium on those becuase I'm unsure of the saber in use. But I ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

That is one heck of a knife. Looks like I am going to have to hunt one of these bad boys down and make a new home for it! Good luck. It's a grail for many, and usually very expensive when it pops up. I can see why. Only down side I can possibly see to the knife after a few reviews is the cutting ar...

Re: Throwback Thursday for Spyderco's

I hope I did this correctly. This is a Spyderco that I have had bouncing around in my toolbox for a couple of decades. I tried cleaning it up a bit and I am surprised at how hard it is to open one handed. I can't seem to get any leverage on the hole. I usually just use two hands. Does anyone know w...

Hi Landon,

I'm carrying a P4 FRN, K390, plain edge. The handle is made from the molds.

This is terrific news Sal. Thanks for bolstering our hopes.

Re: Which Spyderco Haunts You Most?

It was haunting me but is in the mail now. A 440v SE Military :) Good find. Let me know how strong the detent is when you get it. Mine is a great knife, but of all my dozen or so Millies, this is the weakest detent. It doesn't appear to be an issue of age, I have several around those years that are...

Re: Throwback Thursday for Spyderco's

Along the lines of several recent threads, I'm carrying a little knife and a combo edge. Both discontinued and perfect for Throwback Thursday.

CE in a 30/70 PE/SE configuration can be very practical.
The older 440V SE Millie was this way. maybe 25/75 or 20/80 PE/SE ratio. It was significantly longer than the later S30V versions.

Re: Any combo edge fan and why?

Generally no but now that I've come to love serrations I'm a lot more open to the idea. I still would prefer them to be on a larger blade so there's an adequate amount of each edge type. This is the only acceptable application for combo edges as far as my uses go. The Millie, Endura, 93mm Rescue an...

Re: Why is having the blade drop closed such a big deal?

I don't mind it so much. I actually consider it a sweet-spot between a loose pivot and too tight. With my Police 3 and my Para 1, the smoothness that the blade freely drops with the lock pressure removed is a sign of how well worn in the mating surfaces are. I honestly wish some of my other folders ...

Re: Police K390...yea it's freaking awesome.

Haven't heard anything of the sort. I plan to wait and see what the FRN Police is like when it comes out, then buy back-ups of whichever version I like best. If they don't end up doing a K390 FRN run I'll have to grab another G10 version...it's an amazing steel. I too plan to get a backup if the FR...

Kopa or Kiwi would be my first choices. I do carry the Ladybug hawkbill in my watchpocket at work and home, basically 6 days a week.

Re: Police K390...yea it's freaking awesome.

....... I try to really avoid submerging the knife when cleaning and always rinse from the pivot to the tip. Mostly I use mild detergent and warm water for cleanup. My K390 has little to no signs of rust or spots. As for that beautiful patina forming in the above picture it makes me want to clean m...

Let me see, where to start.... Original Calypso, 2mm stock, polished G10, linerless, swedge spine, distal taper, golden bug clip Barong, pakkawood handle (linerless on the front and same walker liner on the back), no riccaso, 2mm stock or less, deeper pocket clip. Re: Police K390...yea it's freaking awesome.

It seems to me that pork yields better patina on K390 where beef was more effective on Superblue. It sounds weird, but I've found the same with respect to K390 & M4. For that indigo patina, M4 likes beef, K390 pork. From pan-fried boneless chops: http://u.cubeupload.com/seki_japan/k3901.jpeg I have...

I think the Hossom models might also deserve a nod. I know mine is extremely beefy and the blade shape makes for a feeling of more blade heft.
