Will there be a second release, as Sal hinted, or should I give up refreshing the order page? Tnx.

Why would the last inch of the blade be left unsharpened? That decreases the attractiveness for me.

The Techno is one of VERY few knives that I have two of. The combination of thick blade, thin edge and good blade:handle ratio make it a clear winner. Who else would like to see a Techno 2 with a 4" blade? (I feel I already have the 3.5" blade niche well covered with the Lionspy and ZT0801).

Exact same thing has happened to me. Even though it didn't involve a knife as expensive or beloved as a PM2, it is still irritating.

I bought two. Will use one, and will keep the other as a back-up as long as I like sufficiently. If I decide to pass on the 2nd knife, I would be confident of getting my money back, but I don't expect it to go for crazy prices due to the availability of the CF model as a regular production item.

Are you confusing blade thickness from edge-to-spine width? I don't think a blade needs to be wide to withstand batonning...my Wildsteer is only 1 1/8 inches wide at the widest part of the blade, but it's also 3/16 thick for almost the entire length of the spine until the tip where there's a swedge...

I looked at the Lionspy at the Blade Show and reached the same conclusion on it also entirely too wide, I think a wide blade makes sense on a hard use folder because it allows for a lot more utility batonning on the spine. Not saying you should plan to baton any folder, but it's nice to know that y...

If the order goes in, does that mean you have definitely been successful? I had everything in my cart ready to go about 20secs after the forum knife popped up, but it then took me about 12min to get past the zip error message.

I've also had problems with spyderco torix screws not fitting regular driver sizes (I'm talking decent quality hex bits, not the cheap allen-key type things), which ended with stripped screws that I couldn't remove. I had to give up on swapping the handle scales between a superhawk and superleaf for...

I was thinking there was no way I would get this as I already have a SR-1, but now I'm wondering whether to buy the Lionspy and cut through the front side of the spyderhole to have a waved version.

If it was a 4" blade with more of a spear point, I wouldn't think twice.

In the folders, the hole contributes to both form and function. But, I also wish the fixed blade knives didn't have it. IMHO, in addition to collecting debris it takes away from the knives' "lines" that you work hard to get right. +1 on that. I don't like anything on a knife that doesn't ...

I'm just wondering (and the thought has just occurred to me) whether the use of the ball lock limits Spyderco to a 3mm blade stock? Would a 4mm blade require a larger ball-bearing, and therefore possibly re-designing the entire lock? It's a sad thought (to me at least) that we may never see a manix ...

With a 3mm blade of that length, I see the Manix XL as more of a slicer, so s90v/CF with skeletonized liners would be nice.

Now, if Spyderco would produce a beefier one from 4mm stock, then I'd go for something like 3V.

I passed on the regular Manix XL cos I prefer my original Manix with the 4mm blade. Would definitely get a s90v/cf version with skeletonized liners, though.

This will be a great blade for the price. But if the blade stock is really only 3mm, I'm not sure this will replace my original Manix. Still waiting for a Spyderco folder with a 4" cutting edge, FFG leaf blade, robust point and good steel from 4" stock (sorry, Resilience!).
