If I think well, I can do with H1, on the condition it comes with yellow handles... :D

Compression lock knives require double steel liners, therefore simply replacing G-10 with FRN wouldn't be such a great improvement.Wanimator wrote:I don't understand why there's a Manix 2 lightweight but not a Paramilitary 2 lightweight. An FRN compression lock would be fantastic.

Re: How did you discover Spyderco?
Many years ago, it was an old SF movie (Screamers) where I first saw a peculiar (yet cool looking) knife, with serrations and a round hole in the blade. I thought it was especially made for the movie and I congratulated in my mind the prop master for his inspiration. ;) Imagine my surprise when I fo...

Welcome aboard Joe. The Delica is a great choice. It was my trusty companion for many years and it always met my expectations.
Lately, I find myself particularily attracted by the newcomer Spyderco C216GP Efficient :)

Re: I'm going over to Buck
Fortunately, we are living these wonderful times when there are so many knife companies and knifemakers to spoil us with designs and materials for about just everyone. So (budget aside), eventually it all depends on personal prefference. There are people who use 5$ knives and are perfectly ok with t...

Re: The Spyderco Senior think tank
Hmmmm, so did the Sliverax kind of beat this larger Dialex Senior idea to the punch...? ...Then when I saw the Sliverax get released, and all the praise for it, I was like wow this is what the Senior may have been, having some very slight similarities and resemblance to the Junior in my eyes. Indee...

Re: The Spyderco Senior think tank
Hmmmm, so did the Sliverax kind of beat this larger Dialex Senior idea to the punch...? Not really. The Senior is not an oversized Junior, but a totally different design. Much more classic lines, I'd say. Just don't hold your breath waiting, I'm afraid it won't happen. :( Thanks everyone for your i...

Re: Paramilitary serrated edge
I think a combo edge would prove handy in many cutting tasks. IMO the optimal proportion would be three large serrations with the smaller double ones inbetween, like there is at the Delica CE.

Re: Complete change of mind on frn
I heard of broken blades under extreme conditions, but I never heard of their FRN handles to fail. For me, FRN is a great material and surely has its optimal place for certain knives.

Re: The Spyderco Senior think tank
Just to throw something out there, what if the flipper was functional as an opener while the knife is closed but covered by the handle while the knife is in the open position? You could just about sneak a tiny flipper into the existing handle shape. You would need to move the stop pin forward, whic...

Re: The Spyderco Senior think tank
Hello guys, thank BRJ for this thread and to you all for your valuable input. :) Truth is, I've been working on the Senior project for some time and the work is almost finished. Don't expect an enlarged Junior though. Although you may notice some familiar feats, it's without doubt the adult rated ve...

Re: Older Spyder models; Updated Materials?
Hey Dialex I'll go you one better than that>> how about a Yellow G-10 handled Caly Jr. in H-1 or maybe even that new nitrogen based steel LC200N. Hello JD. This would go only if it were unlinered G-10, otherwise you'd need titanium liners to match the H1. I'm pretty sure some people can live with t...

Re: Newer FRN/FRCP, Why so flat?
While I'm not sure about the reasons the newer models have those square edges, I remember long time ago they used the chamfer the edges of the opening hole. They eventually gave up doing this because they found out that unbevelled edges allow better purchase and control over the opening / closing pr...
