Re: Interesting Aquisition, curious if meant to be or what it use to be?

Looks like a factory test piece of different serrations. Looks too clean to me to be an end user with a dremel.

C’mon Sal, tell us what this is.

Didn’t the 4 kind of bomb? Seems like it didn’t stick around long.

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

I have one of these on pre-order as well.. would be nice if we could get a heartbeat from Spyderco on this so we know when to expect them. It would also be nice to have some idea of what the sheath would be like, besides “black leather” I wouldn’t blame Spyderco if they don’t say it’s coming until ...

Re: Spyderco collecting mindshift

I do the same periodically. I mostly buy used so there’s not much money going into knives but it’s still just a bunch of knives that don’t get used. Better off in someone’s pocket than my knife box.

Re: Ideal blade thickness for your EDC folder?

2mm for day to day EDC. If I know I'm doing home repair or bumming around some outdoor area I'll take the Manix 2 instead.

Re: (Unofficial) Paul Alexander Ikuchi Discussion Thread

Hmmm. It looks kind of cool, but I couldn’t help but compare it with the Burnley kwaiken family of knives which way sleeker than this in my opinion. Also not sure how useful the blade shape would be.

But I hear good stuff about his other designs.

Manix 2. Though I haven’t yet tried a PM2 or Military.

Re: discontinued list question

The Manix 2 backlock is pretty niche in its appeal. I think fans of it should be glad it was made in the first place.

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

Considering you can get a Tenacious for around $40 it’s not an unfair question: why does the Bow River cost so much? It seems like you're ignoring the cost and construction of the Bow River's leather sheath. Something the Tenacious, obviously, does not come with. The cheapest I'm seeing the Tenacio...

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

You can't compare cost of labour between us, eu and China unless you compare cost of living and other factors. I thought we were talking about the price/quality ratio from China? We were, but China can do stuff better at a given price point than good ol’ USA, so he switched to talking about ... cos...

Re: "Spyderco Scandinavian Survival Knife": Who's in?

the market for high end bushcraft knives is very small. What, you don't want to spend $200 on a knife that gets abused and dirty? In general I'd like to see Spyderco move away from pocket jewelry. Nothing wrong with gents knives, mine get used a lot, but if something is big and tough it needs to be...

The design I have in mind has a Scandinavian Saber-ground blade ... with a drop point like blade of some kind ... Blade length would be under 4 inches
Wow, so many details, you've practically designed this knife for them.

That is nicely done. Do you feel a big difference in use?
If a knife is very thick behind the edge this can help a lot.

Reviewers tend to really roast thick knives. But I think thick in the hand can make up for thick in the pocket.

Re: On a personal note... (related to the Discontinued List)

I'm sure you already know but for anyone who doesn't, :spyder: makes a really great bread knife: K01SBK. We are doing the keto thing in our house right now so ours hasn't seen too much use lately. The serration pattern and balance of it produces clean cuts that do not mangle even delicate flakey pa...

The lower prices are nice. Kinda bummed though, bought a Mantra two weeks ago then I see Blade HQ has it now for $20 less. Oh well, next time.
$20 is not very much difference, I wouldn’t sweat that.

Re: On a personal note... (related to the Discontinued List)

I also like the disco list. Rarely do I pick up blades new (I’ve got so many). Still quite happy I snagged the Positron when it was cheap last year. Not much excites me on the new disco list. I’m tempted to snag a serrated chefs knife to replace our lame bread knife, but it’s not very long and do I ...
