Re: Watu vs. Deka

Seems like quite a few companies are jumping on the Axis design. sal Is it possible we'll ever see a Spyderco that uses it? I'd love a CBBL in a smaller (Chaparral) size, but I think you've said before the CBBL is difficult to fit into a knife that small. An axis lock on a Chaparral would be an awe...

Re: Mule Team Survey

1) Did you purchase a Mule Team knife in the past? Yes, several. 2) Did you put a handle on it? Halpern g10 scales on a few and paracord wrap on a couple 3) Did you make or buy a sheath? Bought sheath for one of them, repurposed a sheath from a buck Alpha knife for the mule 4) Did you test the perfo...

Re: Manix 2 Cruwear Smooth G10

Got mine today. Glad to be able to get a cruwear Spyderco. Missed the other (Para 2) offerings. The smooth g10 is different, feels nice but not grippy... will have to carry for a while to see how it works out overall. Looks great, even grind, sharp, good fit and finish. 👌

Evil D,
You said you recieved the updated one from Paul. So my question is, with those different engineering changes how long before Spyderco is going to enact the CQI? Or did they already?

Re: Are lightweight versions hindering supersteel potenial?

I see the consensus is vastly for LW version. I was amazed at the number posting in discussion and the positive posts also. Now if I could only find one. Now I'm sorry I waited b/c the Cutlery Shoppe was 155 and it's now sold out. I was looking and Manix2 S90V LW is ~115 and maxamet is~181 other pla...

Are lightweight versions hindering supersteel potenial?

Does the lightweight version, e.g. LW Manix 2 Maxamet, keep you from using a supersteel to full potenial vs knife with steel/ ti liners? Most seen with Maxamet , S110V. Holding back from purchase since I don't have any LW versions.

I wonder if Spyderco would do a Mule Team. They haven't done damascus with Nitrogen steel.

Re: CQI and heat treat

Is it like how you know how your own oven works, it might take a few tries to get recipe to your standard? Also I wonder does Spyderco use a contactor for heat treat or do they have their own ovens? I'm sure they are not re-inventing the HT as much when the manufacturer has done the research already...

Re: VTOKU Sprint Run

+1 I'd love to see sprint runs of the kitchen knives in some of these steels. I use my kitchen knives every day, multiple times each day, and I'd love to upgrade them a bit (and get more time with the sprint steels in the process). I like your thinking, hehe, Spyderco kitchen knife in Japanese carbo...
