Re: Spyderco Knock-offs, "Replicas"and Fakes

This whole issue piqued my curiosity. I did some searching found there is a huge presence of apparently "replica" knives on Aliexpress and other hosting sites. Many are other well known manufacturers whose rights are being violated as are Spydercos. I then (against "best" advice)...

Re: Mantra Bearing Race

I recently purchased a Mantra 2 on ebay from a third party. This one is marked on the blade with the Collector Club number 005. The box and knife both appear to be genuine. The operation of the blade rotation mechanism seems to have two areas that feel like typical bearing contamination. The first i...

Potential Fake Domino

This appears to be a copy because of the following: The text uses spider instead of Spyderco The price is far lower than a genuine Domino The photos are of a genuine Domino with the spider LOGO faded out The Spyderco LOGO on last photo is not blocked out. In doing several searches of aliexpress site...

Re: Fake Stretch 2 G10 ZDP-189

I cruise the online knife world sporadically to see what is changing. The Aliexpress site seems to be putting up a huge number of "replicas" because they couldn't be making a profit at those prices on real Spydercos. The retail market in the US seems to be getting hit with replicas in boxe...

Treasure Quest: Snake Island

I was just watching the Discovery Channel and think I saw Mehgan using a Spyderco ( Endura? ) scraping moss off a carving in a rock. Anyone else see it?

Re: 2015 Forum Knife Announcement

An earlier Native purchased on eB some time ago was one of the Spyderco knives that has led me to own approx 150 of them. (only 5 of them are Natives) I will be acquiring one of these Forum examples for sure. Sal,Eric, Kristi and too many to name have always looked out for Spydercos customers whethe...

Researching older Spyderco knives

I have accumulated several older Spydercos that I am attempting to accurately identify. These are mainly in the smaller solid color boxes (black, red and blue). When I picked them up I was new to knife collecting and assumed the box contained what the label said! That is quite often not true..... Ca...

Re: Loupe brands

I just purchased a used Wild Heerbrugg M5 stereo microscope for other endeavors and wonder if it would be useful examining blade edges. It's put away until after the holidays so setting it up will be delayed to January. I worked with Wild microscopes during my career in medical technology and always...

I was surfing and found the Duty Gear Store. Do I need to be "affiliated" to buy from them?

A series of Sterilite boxes of different depths. Knives in their boxes standing on end so I can retrieve the one I want out of that box. Very shallow box for older ones with the label on the side. Now if I could figure out a way to quickly get me to the correct box..... :) Boxes are stored where eve...

I've got both the Cat and Chicago. Which I carry depends what is planned for the day. Another EDC for me is the Spin. With the clip removed it slips ito my pocket easily and is so slim you can't tell it's there. I'm also partial to the wharncliff blade....

There's a lot of technology and precision engineering behind the making of screws. Check out wikipedia.org for more detail than you ever wanted to know!! The making of precision, accurately sized screws comes down to cost. The more accurate and more finely finished, the higher the cost. In addition,...

Congratulations to you all both for attaining rank and for service to the Scouting program. I attained Eagle in 1960. My four (younger) brothers did it over the next 10 years. My son reached Life. I remember my first employer saying that my Scouting was a positive influence in the hiring process. Th...

I respect the individuals right to choose what is most comfortable and practical for EDC. For my own EDC knives its G10 or SS with a couple of FRN for rough use. However for display, visual appeal becomes important. I was really pleased with the Sage 4 ironwood scales. They brought to mind my sample...

I keep all the boxes I get with a knife purchase. Two reasons; first they add value in the event of a sale, second, they preserve the knife identification. The knife stays in its box. Storage may eventually be a problem. I have over 100 new Spydies and about 15 users. Also maybe 40 lesser brands.......
