SlideTechnik, I think auto Spyderco knives are some of the best in the industry. I have used a bunch of different brands and Spyderco has really done a great job. Biggest benefit for an auto knife = one hand deployment. Sure, you can do this with the Spyderco hole but it is so much quicker and easie...

I really appreciate this review. I have been looking at getting a Persistence but wanted to wait until I heard the reviews--you know, the old penguin effect. All the penguins line up and push until one falls in. If that one gets eaten, the rest take off. If it doesn't, they all jump in after. Thanks...

Yeah, I would go with a dealer that has everything actually in stock in their store/warehouse. Dropshippers are sketchy at best because suddenly there is a whole other entity involved in the process. Too many hands in the pot make for a bad tasting mess.

I would go with stoneman--go with a cheap butterfly trainer. I would go with pin construction not screws. They last longer. Then, when you get good, get the real deal--get a spyderco.

I gave my 11 year old daughter a nice pocketknife this year--she loves it and is extremely safe with it. We practiced knife safety first. Imagine that.
