Re: Sage 6 lock request
I really like this idea. CTek would be a cool handle material. Do it in black or grey so it isn't so modern looking. A Sage in Nishijin or Zome hasn't been done... Edited cause Coors I agree with you, however I wouldn't expect any very exotic handle materials. My understanding is that the Sage seri...

Re: Smock
I get that the button is only on one side, but what makes this knife right hand only? I think he's referring to the lack of holes in handle for left hand clip installation. Probably just a preproduction piece.... David I hope you're right, but the fact that it seems to be using the same clip as the...

Re: Where is the new, improved Advocate?
It's pretty simple. The original washer/bearing design was poor. The fact that a small fraction of the production was returned to you doesn't mean that the others weren't affected. They were all affected. Some of them showed symptoms of the weak design. Some of those were sent in to warranty. As a ...

Re: Where is the new, improved Advocate?
I'm assuming that Spyderco is treating the Advocate reissue in the same way as its other CQI efforts, in which case there likely won't be any overt mark indicating whether the knife is the new version (although I have seen some knives that have a date stamp that's visible upon disassembly. Perhaps a...

Re: Lanyard Users Poll
I rarely use a lanyard or fob, except in one instance: small knives where the maker refuses to accommodate southpaws by allowing for clip placement for left side carry (i.e., the Nishijin DF2, or likely the upcoming Smock). In that case, I'll use the lanyard hole to attach a small clip like the TEC ...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
It's a valid concern, but for me the addition of a new deployment method to my favorite lock far outweighs the inconvenience of more involved closing. Reasonable minds can of course disagree, however

Re: Can we ever expect an FRN Knife in LC200N, PE, FFG??
I believe I saw Sal mention somewhere that transitioning the entire Salt line to LC200N was a possibility, if not even in the works. I'm sure someone else will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Re: Corporate shills makes any serious discussion impossible
A vibrant userbase is generally the lifeblood of any forum, so I usually don't like to see anyone leave the forums I frequent because they feel unwelcome. At the same time, however, it is equally important to call out and discourage trolls. "Shilling" requires more than simply calling out ...

Re: PMA11, Tool Steels, and mules
You're in luck for Maxamet also, my understanding is it will be a regular production offering for at least the core US made models, similar to S110V (I.e., at least the Native, PM2, and the Para 3, with more likely to come).

Re: Sharpener for Para 3? Help!
Both are great systems. I fanatically researched sharpening systems before I settled on a KME and the sharpmaker for my uses. I haven't used a worksharp, but did research it extensively. The Sharpmaker is a great system for maintaining an edge, provided all of your knives are either 15 or 20 degrees...

Re: I Hate Japanese Spydies, Sorry
Just out of curiosity, mastiff, were any of the models you had sprint runs? I have heard that the QC on sprint runs might be somewhat tighter than normal production runs. Certainly my Hap 40 Caly 3 has pretty fantastic fit and finish (as one example, the lockbar and liners appear to be one solid pie...

Back in at NGK You're awesome, thanks for the heads up. Only one left... Houseofblades.com just showed stock a second ago, but now shows as sold out. Never ordered from them so I can't vouch, but another one to keep your eye on. I haven't ordered from them directly, but I believe they're legit. I h...

Re: Para 3 sprint has dropped!
Well, they seem to have done the same thing as the Caly preorder... just got this: The product is oversold and no longer available. I can't get any more. Pending means your card was not charged. Sorry for the trouble. Fred Dissappointing, but between the hope my KC preorder gets filled, and keep...

Re: Para 3 sprint has dropped!
Which confuses me because I did not request a cancelation, and my money is still held as processing, so I just emailed them to see what the dealio is. While I've heard some people have had some troubles with knife outlet in the past, the couple orders I've done were smooth... guess we shall see how...

Re: Para 3 sprint has dropped!
Has anyone ordered one from Knife Outlet, and if so have you received a shipping notice yet? I ordered Monday and am concerned they might have pulled the same overselling with the PM3 as they did with the Caly sprint.

Re: Para 3 Putnam Scales Install
Not sure about the lanyard tube. I've heard they can be flared out at the ends which makes disassembly a bear, but I'm not sure of the best way to remove them. With regard to the loctite, though, you have a few options. Good call stepping away when you felt resistance. The first thing, try a larger b...

Re: S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber Native 5 is alive!
It’s alive and well! Hey Ron, From your pictures it looks like the scales are essentially flat slabs of CF with the fluting cut into them. It could just be the way the fluting is done, but I had thought they were contoured. Could you (or anyone that has one) confirm whether the scales are mostly fl...
