Re: LA knife laws

Are the knife laws statewide in California, or do they vary by jurisdiction? Kind of an off topic question, so I apologize in advance, but I figured someone in this thread is likely to know the answer. Thanks! There are statewide laws, but they don't preempt local laws. That means individual jurisd...

Re: LA knife laws

I believe you're correct, under 3 in you're fine. Over 3 in, it can't be "in plain view", but whether a pocket clip peeking out of your pocket counts as "in plain view" or not is uncertain. If it's tucked down in your pocket, there's no length restriction. Just make sure you neve...

Re: Knife Return and Customer Support- Is this normal?

One other consideration, changing the scales can in theory affect the mechanism of the knife (if the scales aren't cut perfectly, the lockup could be affected). I imagine that's the reason they couldn't evaluate it, and as others have noted it would have been immediately obvious that the scales were...

Re: Parata paradox?

Unfortunately I don't have much insight into the causes of the delay. I would guess that since the design is so unique, they might have started with a relatively small run to gauge interest and we're just waiting on manufacturing schedules for the next batch? You're right about preorders, they're us...

Re: Sage 5.2

You would prefer a Button Compression Lock on Sage? To an integral? sal Absolutely. For me, a compression lock leaves very little grip on the knife when closing, whereas the location of the button allows for a more secure grip. I have xl/xxl hands and feel like I have to be very delicate and delibe...

Re: Para 3 fades into the sunset.....

OMG finally the Para 3 light DLC ships, oh whop. 2019 was a struggle for me as Spyderco/Distributors decided enough was enough for the Para 3. To be honest this broke my knife spirit and I'm not sure that I'll ever buy another knife. In fact I have no idea how I can liquidate the hundreds I already...

Re: Knife floats

Rather than a tether (given the possibility for an accident) I wonder whether it might achieve a similar result, but be a little less obtrusive than the foam float mentioned by OP, to weave a lanyard out of floating rope? Something like this: https://www.premiumropes.com/ropes-for-boats/floating-rop...

Re: What models would you like to see with the side button compression lock like the Smock

Every compression lock model for me. As a lefty with pretty big hands, the button is especially beneficial for models with limited access, as foofie mentioned, or those without particularly grippy scales (i.e., I've come close to dropping my BHQ Shaman several times with its smooth G10 scales). I've...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

Knives Plus came through in record time! With the help of its brother from BladeHQ we liberated the Crucarta from its cardboard cage. Now just moving the clip over for proper carry. The micarta is a huge improvement over the jade G10 and CF variants, giving just a bit more traction without being agg...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

I dont understand. How are these selling out so quickly? In seconds??? before the server can even send out an instock email? Probably people just getting lucky and stumbling on them. That's how I purchased mine, I just periodically refreshed the product page across about 15 retailers and happened t...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

Hi Elduderino, We asked Crucible to make Cruwear a while back. They decide to powder it for us. I think it was a good move on their part. sal That's awesome Sal, I forgot that history about the development. It definitely seems like a great product for them. If it makes economic sense for Spyderco, ...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

Maybe this a bad time, but what do you guys think of a green Micarta Cruwear Shaman, or maybe a green Micarta with another exotic steel? I could argue for a larger quantity. sal Absolutely! I think Cruwear with any color micarta would sell like crazy. Just your mentioning the possibility (along wit...

Re: Sprint runs from Knives Plus?

I see the Smock as a very unique design with an incredible implementation of the Compression lock that I have wished over the last year or so I had pulled the trigger on. Thanks a lot for the feedback. Also, I absolutely agree with the above. I was fortunate to get a smock from the first batch, you...

Sprint runs from Knives Plus?

Hey everyone, Does anyone have experience ordering a sprint run from Knives Plus? I got in an order for the Shaman sprint, and am wondering if I can safely expect to receive it. I've been burned in the past by a retailer allowing more orders than they had stock and waiting days before admitting to i...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

This one was always going to be a highly sought after sprint, pretty much the combination that makes the most sense for a user like the Shaman. I really, really hope Sal and co revisit the Shaman in cru-wear in the future in another sprint (but perhaps with a different handle color/material to sati...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

I fail to understand how an item in a cart and in the process of being paid for can be taken by someone else. Cutlery Shoppe needs to up its ethics. This is an honest question, does any retailer count items in a cart against the available inventory? Most that I know of seem to only reduce the avail...
