I buy Spyderco products because they are consistently high quality and IMHO the best knives in mass production.

As someone that never designed or produced a knife (or anything else for that matter) I try not to pass judgement over those that do.

I was thinking about it at work today (yeah, I was thinking about knives when I should have been working) and I remember my dad keeping these things that looked like stones in with his tools. He told me they absorbed moisture and kept the rust down.

Anyone know what they are called?

I like the Lum Tanto in SS. It would be hard to think of a cleaner looking knife but the one thing I would change is the slight bump by the spyderhole. The Viele didn't have one(a bump that is) and I think that's one of the things that makes it so smooth looking. I wonder if Spyderco will ever issue...

Storing Knives?

A couple questions about storing knives: 1. I want to keep a Stainless Delica NIB. It has a piece of plastic on the non-clip side with a little oil under it. Should I leave it on or take it off for long term storage (say 10 or 20 years)? 2. Do you keep your knives in any sort of special container to...

I just found a Volpe at Sierra for less than $80 with a 20% discount.

I'll have to see if Double Eagle comes to the Lexington KY knife/gun show.

The Best Prices on Out of Production Models

Where is the best place to find unusual and out of production model Spydercos?

Are knife shows good places to look but not buy? Or are the prices there comparable to what you can find shopping the web?

Thanks for all the help!

Wow. That Volpe is hot!

I think the Sages are a good idea. Especially since they have only recently hit production.

All the Lums are really nice too.

These persians are so beautiful.

Dumb question: Why do they call it a "Persian"?

Thanks everyone! Cobrajoe: I really like the shape of the blades and some of the models like the Lum Chinese folder and tanto are just beautiful. I may eventually resell my collection but it is mostly just for me. I took Aikido for years in high school and really like the fact that so many of the hi...

Thanks JBE. I read about the Sage and thought it looked like a cool design.

Deacon: Thanks for the advice. The Kiwi is a cool blade design.

I am very new to knives but love spyderco. Can anyone tell me if a Sprint Run means that the knife will only be made in a limited number or does spyderco just change the color of the handle and make a "new" sprint run of the same model? I'm not judging anyone who collects different colors ...

I'm new to the Spyder trade.

Is it ever a good idea to buy a used knife? I would buy something that was advertised as "new" or "new in box" but I'm not sure I would buy something that was formerly an EDC.

Am I crazy and just over paying?

Hate to be that guy. Especially since I am a "noob" but I bought a Tenacious and I have to say I don't like it very much. It's an okay camping and outdoors knife but the feel of it is really lousy compared to the Endura. That being said it opens really fast and smooth. Far easier than the ...
