Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

Thanks so much, mikey177! I couldn't resist that size of a discount and grabbed a bunch to check out.

Re: Positive improvements in marketing, social media and other things that I’ve seen recently

This thread makes me wonder something. A possibly rhetorical question might be: On which platform do fans communicate most about the product? For me, I would guess the total followers may be higher on the larger platforms simply because they are larger, but I would guess communication in both direct...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Next one ordered: Caribbean leaf SE.

This one seemed lower priced on Amazon, but I checked the Spyderco dealer locator page to verify the seller was an official dealer. The first one was not, so I swapped to a different seller that was.

Re: Next Spyderco?

Thanks, Hydrashok. I like the idea of those Salt you mentioned and will likely end up with one. A couple are already on my wishlist. However, after reviewing most of the SE thread Warstein mentioned, I decided to go with a less toothy/snaggy SE as my first. I'm not quite ready to do a reprofile on m...

Re: Knife horror stories

The wife and I were on a Europe trip and I bought some Victorinox at the store near the top of the Matterhorn in Zermatt. As we were going to fly home from Paris Orly, the door security scanned the bags coming in, saw the knives, and did a physical check. After they put them back, we went ahead, che...

Re: Next Spyderco?

Wow, thanks Warty! That was a rabbit hole. 😂 I’m halfway through the 32 pages of the first thread. I’ll finish the rest later. From what I have read so far, I think I will go ahead and get an ffg SE to try out. It’s a bit strange to think of a factory edge requiring a reprofile, but a least I alread...

Re: Next Spyderco?

Welcome to the forum, Tim! :smlling-eyes My 2c: - Definitely get a serrated Spydie for number 2 or 3. For me personally a good spyderedge beats PE in almost any task, is a bit quicker and easier to sharpen (at least, but not only, with a sharpmaker), stays sharp longer and will still "cut"...

Re: Next Spyderco?

Thanks, Ramonade, for the link. I’ll take a read and learn a bit more. I’m still interested in this one. As you mentioned, the handle is interesting. And, I only have one other Damascus so far and it’s not a Spyderco.

Re: Next Spyderco?

But now that I actually bought it, I might just end up buying the Nishijin version :winking-tongue :rofl . I just need to check if it is Damasteel or Damascus. I have little to no interest in Damascus, but Damasteel intrigues me. What’s the difference? In the knife description, it is described as: ...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

My first three are inbound. The DLT PM2 Cru-wear/G10 should be here next week. The Native 5 Salt PE MagnaCut and Chaparral XHP/CF should be here a week or so later.

Re: Next Spyderco?

Thanks, Farmer. It's good to know. That's one of the reasons I chose MagnaCut for my Native 5 Salt, to have what you described, ultra low maintenance general purpose. But, if I move near the water again, I'll probably have another boat and will need the LC200N for that.

Re: Next Spyderco?

Lots more comments and welcomes. Thanks, everyone! Some of my earlier comments will come through once approved by a mod. Unfortunately, there are no brick and mortar stores where I am at the moment. So, thanks, Ramonade, for the comparison photo. That's quite helpful. For pocket sit duty, if somethi...

Re: Next Spyderco?

Thanks, apollo. That is cool. I like the look of this one, especially combining the Nishijin with damascus. I think I'll try for this one as my #2. If it takes too long to get it, I may end up with a #4 also. lol

Re: Next Spyderco?

Thanks, Richard, for the extra info. I'll take a look at the Sage 5 and Chaperral. The Manix is attractive other than the lock. If I give up waiting on the Stretch, I could always try that to see if I feel the same about that lock variation. But, that is likely something I would add later if I build...

Re: Next Spyderco?

Thanks Tristan_david2001 and Cl1ff. Perhaps I should add some more info. I don't have a local store that carries Spyderco, so I need to order 'blind' by mail and have it shipped. It gets to me eventually, but returns if I don't like it may be problematic. I don't have any experience with Spyercos ye...

Next Spyderco?

Hello everyone. Thanks for all of the threads on the forum. I've been lurking and learning for just a bit, recently here, but over on BF also. My first Spyderco should arrive soon (PM2 Cru-wear/G10), but I'm already thinking about the next one. I bought the PM2 because I wanted to try the compressio...
