Re: What are your top 5 favorite steels?
My steel-pallet is not too large, but within the context of my experience... 1. S90V. Stainless. Stays sharp forever. Strops back nicely. The first time I screw it up bad though, I need diamond stones. Relatively hard sharpening on the sharp maker. High vanadium needs cbn/diamond. Seems under loved ...

Only 1 CBN stone - what grit?
I need a Diamond / CBN stone for my super steels and want to get a metallic bonded stone. They're expensive so I'd prefer to only buy one. Maaaaaaybe 2 if you sell me on the benefits. If I to only buy one, what size grit should it be? 400? A semi coarse edge is fine. Currently have a SM. Only want m...

Re: Empty clip screw holes
*beastmaster intro voice* Riiiise from your grave I'd like to fill the empty clip screw holes around the pivot so dirt and lint stip mucking up the silky smooth flick. Does anyone make plugs yet? Or 3d print them? I need G10 gray and OD green specifically. JB weld is about the right color for the gr...

Re: Really liking S90V
Excellent point Bolster, I got that backwards.
This is probably why I notice a larger difference diamond stropping 15V and S90V vs VG10 or Cruwear. Time to pony up for some real stones now

Re: Spydie Hole Hurting My Finger
The Seki holes are notoriously sharp. I had one with a burr and poor finish on the hole that notched my thumbnail substantially. I knocked it down with a sharpmaker UF rod but ended up not liking that feel either, so I took a dremel and re-ground the hole back to sharp. Now it feels more or less rig...

Re: Really liking S90V
How does S90V respond to the Spyderco ultra fine ceramics? It's not going to be as sharp as it could be compared to if you use diamond or cBN.. Excellent info here. Thank you for sharing the science behind sharpening such as tidbits like this. Looks like I need some harder stones. The UF sharpmaker...

Really liking S90V
I got the PM2 in S90V/DLC a while ago. I have to say I am loving this steel, and DLC for that matter. Other steels in my stable include VG10, 20CV, S110V, 15v, and CruWear but I have to say S90V has become my new all-around favorite. I got one of the BBB 15v mules and think S90V feels very similar o...

Re: MT39P – CPM 15V Mule Team Dropping Soon!
Arriving this afternoon! Im stoked. This will by far be my highest HRc knife to date. My current sharpening setup is only the standard Sharpmaker and a 4 micron diamond paste stroop. Is that adequate for 15v or do I need to look into a set of Diamond/CBN/Ceramic rods? I dont go crazy with my sharpen...

Re: MT39P – CPM 15V Mule Team Dropping Soon!
I overslept but managed to get one so thanks Sppyderco for making enough to last 20 minutes :) and that was after they wouldnt let me check out on my computer due to suspicious IP (how do I change that? im not a bot. lol) so I had to repeat on the phone and still scored one. Anyways, looking forward...

Re: Spyderco Caribbean on Sale
There have been rumours that there might be an FRN backlock Caribbean in the works. :beaming-face The scales ars so ugly I haven't pulled the trigger in spite of loving everything else about this knife. The secondary hand sand grooves completely change my thinking about that though. That looks grea...

Re: Sanding/Chamfering G10 scales - Tips, tricks, and results?
Wow. G10 sands so nice and so easy! I chamfered and contoured the scales beautifully in about 30 minutes. I wrapped 220 grit around a sharpie and carefully chamfered it at 45 degrees, about 1mm around the entire perimeter and 2-3mm near the right side thumb hole position to make room for my fat thum...
