Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..
Here's the Assist Salt. You can see where I softened up the hook on the pommel end of the handle. I actually did this after the first dye and exposed some yellow, so I re-dyed it. I do remember that dye layer being pretty deep (maybe 10 thousandths, but that was a long time ago so my memory is foggy...

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..
hey guys, so impressed with all the works posted here! I was thinking to rit dye my Native 5 salt with green colour , something like R100 did above. My question is how durable are rit dye projects? Does anybody have a photo after let's say half year of a daily use of a rit dyed frn scales? 4 or 5 m...

I have not done this, but here's a sketch of an "in between size Manix" with a 3.5" blade:

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
I'm all down for a remake of the GB1, in whatever iteration. Just keep the blade and handle geometry the same (especially the handle thickness). It could be lighter and have a (extremely minimal) finger guard, but those traits are not necessary. The existing choil is magical once you actually start ...

Re: If you had to choose only one…
Manix 2 XL, in 4V or Magnacut, depending on how important corrosion resistance is. I'm really liking the 4V on my St. Nick's M2XL. I don't have enough experience with VascoWear yet, but it could potentially be a good middle ground between 4V and MC. I don't know much about 15V at the moment, but if ...

Re: product idea: Spyderco folding wood saw
My intent in introducing Silky into this discussion was not to shut down the idea. It was simply to increase awareness of existing (reliable high performance) products, and suggest what Spyderco might be competing with.

Re: product idea: Spyderco folding wood saw
I'm happy with this for a light & compact saw: http://www.ukpreppersguide.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/BAHCO-folding-saw.jpg I have sven saws and an agawa boreal saw when size is less of an issue. I couldn't imagine going smaller than the bahco on a trip where I expected to use a saw, just ...

Silky
https://silkysaws.com/folding-saws/
Silky makes what are possibly the best saws you can get. I don't know why Spyderco would need to get into that market.

Re: Sharp knives save lives
What a cute dog! Glad things worked out for you and that you were prepared for the situation. Can't tell you how many times people that need a knife react in a horrified way when you produce the tool they need from your pocket. Other Person: Needs something cut, but doesn't have the right tool You:...

Re: First PM2 question about Cruwear and Micarta
The micarta by the lock doesn't bother me at all. I am unable to intentionally make it an issue. However, the crucarta PM2 handle as a whole has a lot more flex than the g10 handles. I do feel it when using the knife hard, which I don't particularly like. I can change the blade centering by flexing ...

its neutrality and choil-lessness provide the versatility that offers exactly what you want in a working knife that is not intended as a weapon, the latter being a design element that plays a significant role in so many of spyderco's designs that have dramatically less appeal to me. I have noticed ...

Re: Salt 2 vs Native 5 Salt
The Salt 2 is a lot better for spreading peanut butter, because you can use the spine of that sheepsfoot tip. It feels like a bigger knife than the Native, probably because of the longer cutting edge. They do for sure carry differently. Native has a pointy tip, so decide if you want/need that.
