Re: Another run of Whale Rescue Blade is needed.
Thanks for that observation. I have a backpacking “cutting board” as a liner inside the tubular nylon, folded where the blade is. I bought a sheet of kydex to make a sheath but it did not work out. To this day, I carry the Aqua Salt on our nightly dog walks. Neighbor about a quarter mile away: https...

Re: Let’s talk SE fixed blades
There is a video showing a fixed Whale Rescue but I believe it was made by some knife maker, not Spyderco. Pretty silly and not much content but interesting point on the blade.

Fraz Labs qt Hard to get, no electronics except emitter and pad with two spots of solder. Uses qtc quantum tunnel composite, when compressed increases circuit flow. Piston design does not shear the qtc while compressing. Made in Arkansas, USA by a nice couple. He designs and tests, she machines. 1F5...

Re: In Which I Rescue my Knife
Not really a rescue, but the old, well used knife gets used for the trashy/sketchy tasks so the sharp, newer knife rides along for the emergency self defense needs, and such.

Re: Exotic Animals Invading USA Wilderness Areas
Thinking the Taipan story was pointing out that it would not be good for it to naturalize in some other country. As a teen, I apparently intruded on a Louisiana cottonmouth’s territory. It went at me for about a minute then retreated. Clearly the most dangerous introduced species in Colorado is man....

Made in America Rada makes a dual serrated thin slicing knife. I take good care of it; not expensive, would not really use it in the field though

Seems like ChapGPT will give broad responses initially, but if you ask more specific questions in the same conversation it could offer useful information.

Re: Purpose of a Business?
I think the purpose of a business is to address "something" (a need, an issue, a problem, an opportunity for improvement, an unaddressed opening in a specific market, a response to something else, etc.) that the business owner/founder has identified via providing a product, or a service t...

Interesting ideas in this thread and all valid, yes? For 99.8% (give or take) of humanity’s existence it has been a matter of living another day; to provide for family, tribe, your people. Now we have a chance at this incredible luxury of choosing a purpose, choosing a way to live. The potential of ...

Interesting thread, and always a treat to read what Sal has to say. Years ago, Bladeforums Spyderco sub forum was a very nice place if I remember correctly. Sal was a dignified leader there as well. Through all these years, he has not only been able to maintain a thriving manufacturing and sales pre...

Candlepowerforums has information, or you could join and ask the same question there. Even if you do not see the value now, getting a flashlight that renders colors accurately (hi CRI) is sound judgement. Do you prefer the warm light of incandescent light bulbs? Then 3500K is a good choice. Maybe yo...

Re: Travel-Ti Canteen Cup by Spyderco
Update: Gave the knives as Christmas presents and use the Spyderco Ti cup every day at home. Fun fact: The more narrow profile of the cup while drinking offers increased situational awareness for sticky situations in front of you! Pretty much joking but it does have this nature over other standard d...
