Re: What do you view as the main grip on these types of knives?
Wonder what others think when it comes to mid sized models like the PM2, mini manix, etc. For me, with average hand (7" wrist to tip / 3.5" across palm at knuckles), the "natural" grip on the PM2 is behind the choil. I use the choil for a normal choke up, and I sometimes put my ...

Re: What do you view as the main grip on these types of knives?
I know I have large hands but are ya'll really using your dragonfly folders without the choil? Even Natives and UKPK seem like a stretch here, and for me I know a para 3 requires the choil for a full grip. I attach a small fob to my DFlys and get a full grip, though only 3 fingers are on the handle...

Re: What do you view as the main grip on these types of knives?
On the Dragonfly 2 & Native 5 I probably choke up on the choil more than 50% of the time. All others only when I want more precise blade control. Though I may not use the choil on my PM2 CruCarta often, I am glad it is there, and always prefer models with choils. The larger the knife the more im...

Re: Venting about Tanto PM2.. again.
I suspect that somewhere, in the deepest recesses of the high security vaults at Spyderco World Domination Headquarters, are spreadsheets that explain all of the decisions we are pondering here - without benefit of much, if any, data. I've never failed to snag an exclusive that I wanted, and MY spre...

Re: Crucarta Manix XL
I grabbed the XL in Cruwear and smooth G10 from Knifecenter, even though the regular Manix isn't the best platform for my hand - great when cutting, but wants to jump out of my hand when securing the blade one-handed. The XL is amazing, closes easily one-handed, and quickly took a place right behind...

Re: Spyderco Bow River
I got one for my girlfriend to use in our kitchen. It's the least expensive knife she has in there, but she uses it even more than her 2 Spyderco Murray Carter Itamae knives in Super Blue. She loves it so much she asked for a "back up" for our house, and sent a third one to her mom's in NY...

Re: Oso Grande, discontinued models & the Brouwer
I grabbed one after they were disco'd but still available, and don't regret it at all. It's a frequent EDC when away from home and a sub 3" blade is required. Carries great, solid ergos, and I love the blade shape. No issues with the clip, but I'm one who always prefers the stock clips because,...

Re: What % of you collection has the factory edge angle?
I leave the factory edge alone until the first sharpening, then go either 15º or 20º on a guided system depending on the steel. This way I can touch up and sharpen with the Sharpmaker and strop bat moving forward. S30V and harder get 15º while everything softer gets 20º. I figure I can make adjustme...

Re: 2024 Official Discontinued List
A Rescue 3 TRL & K390 DFly are the two knives I carry every day, with a slicer and a beast in rotation (PM2 CruCarta & BBB Shaman today). The Rescue 3 is a great knife, and the TRL/TBL color accents are slick. Supports good charities too. If you are on the fence, climb down and grab one from...

Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!
Plus 1. National Knives is the first place I check for "Crazy Good Deals" and Rob goes above and beyond on customer service. I'm certain he personally checks each knife before it goes out the door, as I have often found "tactical peanuts" inside the Spyderco box to keep the knife...

Re: Mid-sized Native?
If the upcoming Native Chief LW is a success, and I expect it will be, I think it will increase the likelihood of an Endela-like addition to the Native family. There's a hole in the lineup, for certain. I love the Shaman, but it is a bit of an anomaly.

Re: Mid-sized Native?
A "Lil' Chief LW" with a 3.47" blade at 0.118 & FRN would get my money. Spear point back lock at PM2 blade length with Endura stock thickness in a LW FRN handle with Native Family ergos that would likely weigh in at around 3 ounces? How could I say no to that!? The inevitable CruW...

Re: Spyderco Online Factory Seconds Sale!
Spyderco fans expend tremendous time and effort to travel to Golden and participate, in person, in the SFO Seconds sale. I doubt my schedule will ever allow for that trip to Mecca, so the relatively minor effort required of me today in order to score 5 great knife deals (3 of which were knives I tho...
