Re: The Astute

I love my Astute and carry it frequently. But, I had to shave some off the tip to bring it under 3" and legal in Los Angeles. Not a big deal, as I have the tools to do it. If it ever got a CQI I'd love to see it with a blade at 2.98" and a black wire clip. I think that would increase sales...

Re: Upping the price.

I wonder whether the tools our forbears had to buy were any cheaper relative to their incomes? Has anyone got an old Sears catalogue, to compare? I'm old, so maybe I can help: The first Buck 110 I bought was around $30, and would have been in the late '00s or early 2010s. It seemed expensive to me ...

Looking forward to some Spydercoat®
See, they install that Spydercoat® at the factory. There's nothing we can do about that.
You betcha!

Can we get that Spydercoat® on the wood chipper blades?

Hi Born, I carried an Alcyone 2 prototype with a Compression lock yesterday. Today I'll be carrying a Polestar 2 prototype . Tomorrow I'll be carrying a prototype 4.0" version I call "Deep Space" (TM). They all have Compression Locks and Carbon Fiber scales. sal [/quote] The Polestar/...

Thanks, Sal. You are a far more patient, and likely better all-around human, than I. I'm gonna tap out of this thread now, before I prove the above statement, but please count my vote as one to keep doing what you do the exact way you do it. Seems like it's been working for several consecutive decad...

Let's stipulate that each of us can make our own judgements of value based on our needs and preferences, so for me... I have more than 20 Civivi, about the same number of CJRB, over a dozen Kizer, and 20 other budget knives from the upstarts like Miguron and Vosteed. A lot of fun little knives in th...

Re: Ok, could it be that LC200N fares better against Magnacut than some might think?

I'm in Los Angeles, away from saltwater, and don't really *need* Salt-level corrosion resistance. I also have more knives in LC2200N than in MC: (Native 5 LC, Siren, Caribbean, SpydieChef, Waterway vs. Native 5 Magnacut Salt PE) The most relevant difference for me is edge stability. I've had LC200N ...

Re: Spyderco Black Friday Map Holiday Sales 2023!

I didn't have any pre-orders with SMKW, but if this is the way they do business I will no longer be buying from them. There are too many alternatives that are run by hard working people who go out of their way to keep their customers happy: National Knives, Cutlery Shoppe, Knifeworks, KSF, Indiana, ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

The Astute is awesome - I originally bought it as a relatively inexpensive knife to travel with; no worries if I hit unexpected security and have to toss it, that sort of thing. But once in hand it really impressed me, and I end up carrying and using it day-to-day more than I expected . My experien...

Looks like the Military 2 will be the next CruCarta. I hope they space those CC puppies out, because I won't be able to say no to any of them. I knew '24 was gonna be a big Spyderyear for me after Reveal 14, and now comes Sal & Eric with more BBB 15v Sprints and Coatings! And Rex121! The little ...

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?

From Los Angeles. Sub - 3" limit, no autos, no open carry, and a lot of understandably nervous strangers everywhere. Yes, I would sometimes carry two of my most carried at-home folders, the PM2 and Shaman, but would still carry my Native 5s and PARA3s regularly as they are more than enough for ...

The N5 LW in SPY27 is what I would recommend to friends as a first "real" EDC knife.

Get a Sharpmaker, too. Every knife in your house will thank you.

Re: Favorite Spydercos You Got in 2023 - In Your Pocket in '24

Most carried by far are the N5 MC Salts, but this year I seem to have really thrown my arms around bigger models, which surprises me a bit. I think the Shaman BBB Sprint kicked that off, and next thing I knew I had bought a bunch of monsters: Native 5 Magnacut Salt Manix 2 XL KC Cru-Wear Smooth Blac...

Native 5 CruCarta with a Compression lock: Favorite platform, lock, steel, and scales.

Dragonfly G10 in Cru-Wear: Seems like a production DFly in Cru-Wear should already exist.
