Re: Why carry two?

I carry two, one in tool steel for work. The other in stainless for food. I don’t want to eat with a nasty work knife.

Re: 2024 Official Discontinued List

I was most shocked about the atlantic salt in LC200N. met a guy who an under water welder and he said that in no uncertain terms the Atlantic salt SE was one of the best diving knives. Wonder if Seki is moving to magna-cut instead? There's still a yellow H1/H2 SE Atlantic Salt. When Spyderco moved ...

What do you think makes them seconds? Uneven grind?
I think mine’s weird serrations at the snaggletooth.

Re: Poll: Which Golden Model Do You Want to See in 15V Next?

I’d like to see a para 3 LW. It seems like a good platform for the steel and the FRN is comfortable.

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

8< ———— With a few of the serrated units in this Sprint Run having a flaw I just wish Spyderco would consider doing maybe one more additional batch of the serrated Cruwear Ayoob. I doubt if they would have any problem selling them. Hopefully that would remedy the problems people are pointing out. J...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

Just got my 2nd from the sale. It has a snaggletooth, but more interestingly the serrations are not perpendicular to the blade axis. They tilt to the right 5-10° if you look closely. It slightly distorts the spyder pattern too. Everything else is perfect. Overall no big deal for a hundred bucks. La...

Re: Apologies - 2023 Spyderco Online Factory Seconds Sale

I think the delay just prevented me from spending all my money on knives, I did get a SE Ayoob so I’m happy as those are mostly long gone and I am SE curious.

exclusives are usually easier to get and cheaper than sprints, sometimes even cheaper than normal production models.

Going back to the OP’s original issue - have you considered making mango hedgehog instead of peeling it? It gives you a perfectly legitimate reason to bust out your Spyderco and slice the bejeezus out of a mango, plus if you have kids they’ll love it.
My wife does that for mangos and avacados.

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

So, A. It's not much of a flaw, if a flaw at all B. You can steepen the tip angle to get rid of it (but probably need a fixed guide system like a work sharp pro to do it accurately) a. it's absolutely a flaw. you've just adapted your usage to fit the flaw. finding a use for something that isn't rig...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

I bought a factory second from the sale, it was $100 and I am curious to see what serrations have to offer. I think there were a lot available, they were in stock after I bought mine. I know that there were some teething issues with the serrations so I can’t help but think that the serrations might ...

Re: Whats the next hot piece?

The Golden made Salt series line of knives in CPM Magna-Cut (PM2 Salt and manix LW salt, I heard somewhere that there are plans to put out Magna-Cut salt versions of all Golden made knives) will be hot as I don’t think anyone else is putting out such a variety of high performance saltwater knives, I...

Re: Seki City (LC200N) Salt Knives Fit and Finish

But most agree that Seki is still behind Golden and Taichung... It’s kind of a strange opinion, but I generally prefer Seki to Golden and Taichung knives because in the models I have bought they are generally (With the exception of the goddard and Ayoob sprints) ground thinner behind the edge from ...

Re: Knife trends you just don't understand?

I think that many of the trends in the industry are understandable, and generally tend towards advancement of the industry. $40 goes a lot farther now. I don’t understand the explosion of $70 to $200 “budget” knives made overseas. I also don’t understand the rise of aftermarket hardware that costs m...
