Mini-Spydercos - Perfect Application

One of my friends asked me why I bought a Dragonfly and Manbug ... becuase they are so little, what do I do with them ? Well, I found the perfect application for the mini-Spydercos - to ride in the seatbag on my Mountain and Urban Bicycles. My bike seatbag is small and already nearly full of other i...

Re: Chinese Spyderco's

If you Google "Spyderco" the following question and answer appears ... (I do not know who asked the question, nor who provided the answer) Which is better Spyderco vs benchmade? In some cases, you might prefer a Spyderco knife and in others, you'll be wowed by the Benchmade quality. In gen...

Re: My First Spyderco made in Taiwan

OK, so my second Taichung Spyderco was just delivered by UPS - a Sage 5 Carbon/G-10. As you may remember, I was extremely impressed with my first Taichung, the Sage 5 LW. Well, the new Sage 5 Carbon/G-10 leaves me speechless. First, I have already eaten my words on the Taiwan made Spydercos - the qu...

Re: Chinese Spyderco's

Ohh Boy, here we go again, as the regulars know, I have been nearly beat to death for declaring that I will not own a Chinese made Spyderco (nor any other knife made in China for that matter). But, boy I was certainly taught a lesson on the Taiwan made Spydercos ... but have not changed my mind on C...

Re: I hate the Para 3 LW

The Para 3 LW was my EDC for the longest time .... that was until my friends here on the forum convinced me to purchase (and try out) a Sage 5 LW (made in Taiwan of course) ... which has now replaced the Para 3 as my EDC ( I honestly did not think that possible). I also agree with another member abo...

Re: My First Spyderco made in Taiwan

Well, if you remember, after heavy persuasion by the Forum members, I recently purchased my first Spyderco made in Taiwan - a Sage 5 LW. As you know, upon receiving it, I was very impressed the Sage 5, so much so that it replaced my Para 3 as my EDC. Even further than that, I just bought another Sag...

Re: What is your oldest (earliest) Spyderco ?

Thank You - It was great seeing some of the earlier Spydercos ! And Sal - No Number on my Terzoula in the picture, but if I remember correctly, this particular Terzuola was returned to Spyderco because the liner lock was not functioning correctly, and Spyderco had to replace the blade in order to ge...

Re: Best Break-in Procedure ?

Thank you for sharing your comments. And YES, my Native 5 seems to have the greatest amount of friction/drag when opening (from the back lock) as compared to others. I have purchased some "knife" specific oils such as KPL, but it did not make a significant difference on my Native 5 due to ...

Best Break-in Procedure ?

I have a couple of Spydercos that are a little more difficult to open than others, all of which happen to be with the standard back lock mechanism. What is the factory recommended procedure to obtain a smooth and easy opening knife ? - Adding oil ? if so, what type/brand ? - Backing off on the pivot...

Re: My First Spyderco made in Taiwan

My most recent EDC has been the Para 3 ...with the Native 5 as the number 2 EDC. Well, that changed today. To me, that Sage 5 LW is very similar to the Para 3 in Size and with the same Compression Lock - which is my favorite. But for some reason, given my hand size/shape - I find the Sage easier to ...

Re: My First Spyderco made in Taiwan

Well, my first Spyderco made in Taiwan arrived today … And all I can say is Wow ! … Thank you to all of those forum members that convinced me to try a Spyderco made in Taiwan. It is honestly the smoothest opening Spyderco I have ever handled straight out of the box ! The fit, the finish and function...

Re: My First Spyderco made in Taiwan

I actually enjoy hearing other Forum members opinions regarding Chinese made Spydercos …. What I do not think necessary is being told that I am insulting Sal and being called Prejudice simply because I do not care to own one … If posting my opinions regarding a knife - invites and allows for open se...

Re: My First Spyderco made in Taiwan

It’s ok to have an opinion - even those differing from our own - that is everyone’s right … it’s just some folks need to be able accept that someone has a different opinion - without the need to insult or belittle them for having the different opinion … An insult is not an opinion or a view … it’s a...

Re: My First Spyderco made in Taiwan

Do you know one of the problems in today's world, if you happen to have a differing opinion, some people are quick to brand you as "prejudice" ! My preference to not buy Chinese is not; an insult to Sal, based upon Political motive or Prejudice - so please do not be so quick to slap that b...

My First Spyderco made in Taiwan

After hearing from a multitude of Forum members about the high quality of the Spyderco's Made in Taiwan, I pulled the trigger today on a Sage 5 LW - after it became available on the Spyderco Website Store. I wont have it in my hands for a few days, but this is first-hand evidence of the influence/va...
