Re: Upping the price.
Hi Born, I carried an Alcyone 2 prototype with a Compression lock yesterday. Today I'll be carrying a Polestar 2 prototype. Tomorrow I'll be carrying a prototype 4.0" version I call "Deep Space" (TM). They all have Compression Locks and Carbon Fiber scales. sal I have had the Alcyone...

Good news guys, just got off the phone with Spyderco. After long talks and negotiations they will not raise prices for the rest of 2024.

Re: Upping the price.
Sal, I also think there is something missing in your equation when you calculate your final price, Spyderco’s customer service and experience. It is something not tangible but can have a massive impact on your customer base. Spyderco employees interact directly with their customers in positive ways,...

Sal, It’s funny you mentioned land, just heard on the new China owns 400,000 acres on US land now. They we just recently stopped from buying land in North Dakota to build a corn silo… right near the US Air Force base housing out nuclear interests. Inflation sucks, I am now the old guy telling my kid...

Re: Upping the price.
I don't think it's a Spyderco thing, all prices are going up and it sucks. My salary went up 4.77% this year yet my dog's food went from $60 a bag to $100 a bag. Money just does not go as far. I like to think I am getting my money's worth out of a Spyderco knife; I have never felt a knife I got was ...

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!
We made a bunch of them, otherwise it could not have covered the very expensive tooling. sal 2000? Some may be put off by the description: “Although HIC is more durable than conventional ceramic materials, it is still not as resilient as steel. It is, therefore, not warranted against breakage.” I d...

Re: GP knives Manix exclusive
I just got a MagnaCut Manix LW a few weeks ago, but still tempted to get this one. Has KJ ever done a green CruWear Manix like their recent Para 3 except satin. That would be hard to resist. How do you like the magnacut one? It’s on my radar too. So many knives so little cash lol So far it’s been g...

IMO for the price a LW Manix is impossible to beat. So much knife for the money.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Is there a mid priced ($150) fixed angle sharpening system? Seems like you are getting something cheap like the Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener for $60ish or you jump to $250+ for the KME Diamond set, Worksharp Professional or Wicked Sharp Go. There is the Work Sharp Precision Adjust Kni...

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!
What does everyone think the demand will be on these? I mean some like MagnaCut and Z-Max sold out in minutes while others are on the site for months. I am guessing the $150 price tag will slow some people down, but this is something totally different and unique so the demand might be there.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Making 2024 the year I try and learn to freehand sharpen. I recently sharpened my VG10 Delica and it looked like it had a good scratch pattern all up the blade, even and clean, and I got a burr on each side on my 300 grit stone then felt like I deburred ok. I when to the 600 grit stone and it felt ...

Re: A Deeper Investigation into Spyderco Diamond vs cBN: Which is better?! Why!?
Shawn, Hope all is well and the kiddo is doing great. Good topic, there is a ton of discussion on this topic with very little conclusive evidence if one is better than the other. I don’t think diamonds being harder has any impact as either will cut any steel. Below is a quote from Sal a few years b...

Re: Handmade Burl Wood Scales for the Gayle Bradley 2
Those look awesome, I can just imagine how much work it was. Burl is not very strong because the wood grain is so disrupted by the burl so it was a big win just to have them stay in one piece for the whole operation. Very much so, had a router blow apart a set while using a bearing bit as a guide o...
