Re: Smock grind issue [uneven hollow grind to transition line]

Let's not speak about uneven edge bevels as examples, because for me it's different thing, totally repairable after some reprofiling.

Re: Smock grind issue [uneven hollow grind to transition line]

I think if they would replace that knife it makes door open for rest of people dissapointed with uneven grinds and that cost them money.

These kind of assymetries are pretty common. Not a warranty issue, IMO although hopefully corrected on future runs.
You have any Spyderco knives with asymetric grinds?

Re: Smock grind issue

Here’s mine. The hollow grind pretty much meets right at the angle on the spine on the left side, and it’s meets the spine about 0.08” (2 mm) back from that angle on the right side. Anyway @Pokey, are you going to keep it now or send to Golden? I might keep mine, after time it will stop annoy me pr...

As screw driver. Knife is a tool for me, then last resort weapon, but using it as screw driver... Only in very critical situation when I'm trapped with no other tools. https://media1.tenor.com/images/f77dd08298b08312d5cecd5a1e8271f1/tenor.gif Yeah :D , my bad I didn't got the point of the thread co...

Re: Seki lockbacks vs. Golden lockbacks

I have bad memories with Seki lock backs. Every I had - big blade play. Endura, Police and one very vintage model I don't remember the name. I preffer compression lock any day.

Re: Smock grind issue

Just checked my 20cv smock from Knifejoy. One side is perfect, one side the grind is off by maybe a mm. I'd never have noticed otherwise, and it certainly isn't enough to bother me. Michal, I'd say if yours is off enough to bother you, then by all means send it to spyderco for an exchange. Edit to ...

https://i.imgur.com/auIHICO.jpg Welcome to the forum (or better welcome back, since you said you´re not really "new" here in another thread) :) Very cool pic, and very cool "color-mod" both on blade and handle! Thanks, I did it all myself. In fact that was older pic. Actually it...

PS It's hard to response for me, because my every post must be approved by moderator, don't know how long it will be that way.

Most likely not too long anymore from what I´ve seen on this forum! :)
Hope so. It's really annoying.

Re: Smock grind issue

I don't really have a preference either way, so long as it's evenly ground Me too. Higher is maybe even better slicer, and it's that way on offical site pictures. https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details/C240CFP/Smock/1205 I will see if I can live with it or I'll send it to Golden which is nerves a...

Re: Smock grind issue

Does anyone know if the Smock blades are hollow ground by hand? That could explain the variation from side to side. I had the same question to customer service and they skipped that to answer... Higher grind cuts better. :D But I wish it was same on both sides, especially when I pay for it equivale...

Re: Smock grind issue

On the Spyderco Facebook pages guys are crazy about these Smocks and pictures are always being posted of them. One guy mentioned the same issue, and since then I've noticed the majority of Smocks posted have the same uneven grind from one side to the other. So, it looks like a lot Smocks are like t...

Re: Smock grind issue

That grind is pretty far off from normal. Hopefully Sal or someone else will spot this post and reply. Will the seller take a return or exchange? Return time has ended, only option may be exchange at Spyderco. But I don't want to send it if there is small chance for it. That looks the same as my gr...

Smock grind issue [uneven hollow grind to transition line]

Hello. I'm ''new'' here but not really. I was here once but years ago and my account was probably deleted, I was waiting for email to activate old account so long that I created new one. But that's not the subject. Few weeks ago I purchased Smock from local shop in my country. Generally nice knife b...
