Re: Is the Endura still well loved in 2023?

The only negative thing I have to say is that the ergos I think could be improved slightly. My second finger lands on the first handle bump which creates a hot spot during some tasks. It seems quite a few people mention this. This is exactly my problem with the Endura. It's a cracking knife otherwi...

Re: Reveal 14 Live!

Great to see Spyderco continuing to explore neutral handles with the Bodacious :cheap-sunglasses Really hope this trend persists into some of the mid-sized knives :crossed-fingers Also on the plus side is the arrival of the Salt Stretch 2 XL which I've been looking forward to. Sadly though it'll be ...

Re: Next Spyderco?

For my wishlist, for deciding later, I added the Pacific Salt 2 and Salt 2 SE LC200N in case I ever find myself around water more often. Something to be aware of, as and when you get to the wishlist, is that the Seki-made Salts (Pacific & Salt2) will be coming in MagnaCut at some stage. Persona...

Re: Next Spyderco?

I'd recommend anyone get themselves either a Salt 2 or Pacific Salt (whichever fits their hand better) and then don't be frightened to beat the **** out of it. They are tough as old boots and definitely working knives rather than pretty ones :cheap-sunglasses

Stretch XL with Magnacut blade
This one for sure. Would make a great fishing knife.

Also an updated SE Atlantic Salt in H2, but using the Rescue 3 mould to give it a fatter and grippier handle.

But mostly I'd like a PE Salt 1 in MagnaCut.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

First SE came today, a VG10 LeafJumper. I’ve only cut up the box it came in, but I was surprised how much I liked it. Serrations are great aren't they! On the boat yesterday I used my Salt 2 SE to cut the side out of a lobster pot to free a large trapped eel, cut out a portion of melted hose and ch...

Re: Will we see a Stretch 2 XL Lightweight in CRUWEAR?

Here's an interesting bit of info for all of you interested (and hoping) for Magnacut in the near future... Please tune in at the 4:50 mark within this video: https://youtu.be/Nj3uYBDf6h8 So, Magnacut won't be available for roughly another year, to the market outside of EU and USA, which puts the p...

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?

I wonder if Seki MagnaCut is possible at all right now? What I mean is there are limitations to exporting MagnaCut. I know China is off-limits, don't know about other asian countries though. However, so far, there were only knives from USA and Europe released. Doesn anyone know how that limitation ...

Re: MagnaCut in Seki knives

Great to hear that Seki Spydercos will have magnacut options in the future. Love my LC200N Salts but I am excited to try this new steel in Salt models or the Delica/Endura- either way I am happy. Further to your point, I wonder if MagnaCut will make LC200N a bit redundant? As I understand it MC has...

Re: An ode to the death of H1

ffg gets thinner toward the tip, making it less robust. the hollow grind maintains the full thickness almost all the way to the tip and also keeps thicker steel below the spine. it makes for a stronger knife. of course the pivot still keeps it from being really robust and capable of seriously hard ...

Re: MagnaCut in Seki knives

Interesting. I wonder if it will phase out LC200N on Seki models. Could the Seki made salt series support three different steels? Just kind of thinking out loud but ever since Magnacut was officially designated as a Salt series steel by Spyderco, I’ve held the belief that they will need to carefull...

I'm sure MC will get to Seki.

Great news, thanks for confirming Sal.

A PE Salt 2 in MagnaCut would make a fantastic general purpose folder.

I also think a Stretch XL in MC will be ideal for fishing off the beach or boat.

Re: MagnaCut in Seki knives

At a minimum, the Seki plants will need to work through whatever non-Japanese made stainless steels that have already been shipped over there and for US demand to decline and/or supply to improve before we see MC from Japan. I am just speculating, of course. It sure seems like it would be perfect f...

MagnaCut in Seki knives

From what's been said (and not said) on this forum, I'm getting the distinct impression that we won't be seeing MagnaCut in the Seki models soon/ever. Which is a crying shame for fans of Spyderco's super iconic FRN backlocks such as the Dragonfly, Delica/Salt 2, Endura/Pacific and Rescue/Atlantic. T...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?

I dislike the "exclusivity" (extremely sparse units produced) within sprint runs. I believe Spyderco knows darn well that 5,000 units of certain models with a new (or limited) steel and color combo will completely sell out, however their contention to continually release 1,200 or less, is...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?

I also find this a bit strange. I get why the dragonfly might need a little bit of extra handle so you can get a full grip, but I don't get why the rockjumper or the para 3 needed extra handle length. I don't really care that much about extra blade length, but I'd prefer the knife not be bulkier in...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?

1) The design compromises inherent to the round hole. It's a great opening mechanism and a fantastic innovation. But it does make a folding knife wider and induces [negative] changes to the shape of both the blade and the handle. This impacts on the ergonomics, eg the handle often has to be slimmer ...

Re: Salt maker preference mini-battle!

I favour Seki, purely because they are the source of the majority of Spyderco's backlocks. This explains why I'm a bit disappointed by the apparent focus on getting Magnacut into the Golden knives (eg Native & Para2). Hopefully this isn't the case and we'll soon see the PE Salt 2 issued in Magna...

Re: TASMAN SALT 2or ASSIST SALT FRN YELLOW? (Sailing).

Like yourself I enjoy sailing, plus various other watersports. For this sort of usage I generally use a Salt 2 because when things go wrong, and the adrenaline is flowing, I definitely don't want anyone waving a sharp point around. I also find for general utility cuts, such as cutting line or sandwi...

Re: Buying in the UK

I'd like to buy either a UKPK or Delica 4 but looking at the wide price differences for both knives got me a little worried. I guess quality like Spyderco is often faked and I'd rather not get caught out when buying if at all possible. Are there any signs I should look for, dealers with poor reputa...
