Re: Vanax PM2 Lets Do This!!!
Vanax was brought up years ago January of 2018 on these forums. I recall hearing the heat treat being limited to only 60 hrc under the best circumstances. That was custom heat treat stating s30v level of wear resistance and 4V toughness. If the mules come out I will certainly buy one along with a sp...

Re: Need advice! Freehand or Guided System
Anybody on here use 6”x 1” stones for freehand? what’s the best way to find the angle of your bevels? I use the 6x1 veneev Stones. If you own a sharpmaker u can practice free hand sharpening. Wedge one sharpmaker Rod into the thumb in the thumb print. And the other end in your ring, middle, or what...

Re: Vanax PM2 Lets Do This!!!
I would rather see the efforts go towards the Millie instead. Maxamet, 4V, spy27, k390, all steels that should be run on that atleast once.

Re: Why all the Manix love?
Screenshot_20200905-143355_YouTube.jpg I have a modified manix headed my way. The stock g10 version was perfectly fine, however this slim version has me curious. I feel like this version solves many issues folks have with the manix g10 versions. The manix is a worker not a safe Queen imo. I own qui...

Re: Where does SPY27 Steel sits among the current Steel lines?
I've only sharpened spy27 twice. I'm sending it out for hrc testing once my k390 delica shows up,. I'dont like the para 3 lightweight model, but it was the only way I could see first hand what this steel can do. I would guess about a 62 overall hardness with the cobalt level and how it felt on the S...

Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?
I'm curious how the chosen design will compliment this steel. Takes advantage of all the positive attributes of 15V. Just reading the thread tells me the heat treat can match what spyderco is capable of producing.

Re: Buying my first PM2: S30V or S110V?
Bcuz it's mostly a fidget knife I will say neither. I'd go para 3 lightweight with bd1n. I'd have to check price, but it was 91 last I checked. However if the standard pm2 is the only model of interest, s30v is where to go. For around the same price as a pm2 the lightweight para 3 has the spy27 out.

Re: HRC Database
Here are the results of 48 knives I had tested for Rockwell hardness. Some were poked once, some 3x but I'm listing the overall average in order of softest to the hardest. In my pocket there is a rex45 pm2 that tested 66 from previous owner. So 49 in total. Who did the testing out of curiosity? Kur...

Re: Why the byrd Harrier 2 Ltwt is a game changer
I bought a harrier 2 in FRN awhile ago and forgot how great of a design it is. Only when I heard about the serrated wharny did I pull it out from my collection. Bcuz I'm testing so many different steels priorities shifted. The harrier is a better design, however the endela would most likely receive ...

I'm so on board for the cara Cara. Been itching for a fully serrated model and this will fit the bill nicely.

Re: HOW exactly do you experience, differenciate and evaluate different steels?
I don't like posting test results bcuz how much the slippery slope actually is. The test medias are generally the same for me but everyone is vastly different in needs/use. I carry one knife until it's dull, auxillary blade in the boot for backup. My current test carry just happens to be rex45, but ...

Re: Maybe small knives are not TOTALLY awful
My solution has been to have a boot carry blade with me. I noticed over the years I wasn't carrying my delica anymore. More choices in my collection. One day I removed the pocket clip and did some cutting and it felt like the ergos held up better than I thought. So I tied a quick drawstring lanyard ...

Re: Do y'all know where to get custom wood scales made?
I went with a guy on Instagram when I got cocobolo scales for my manix. He works with 20 different wood types. Currently he only does the smock and the manix. Pm2 and para 3 are in his future. If your on Instagram search the user Match_Anderson. I am new to forums and I still don't know how to post ...

Re: HRC Database
I'm new to the forums, but I've had a whole bunch tested by jcoolg19 on YouTube. 6 videos to be exact lol. Mostly spydercos but other knives as well. I need to re-watch them so I can post the results on here accurately. As well as screenshots of the actual videos for source verification.

Re: Rockjumper discussion
I am waiting for the leaf jumper version on this one. I'm not into wharnies but so many ppl are these days. The handle reminds me so much of the polestar in size and design. I hardly ever choke up on the choils of my spydies anyways. Bd1 is very comparable to vg10 so holding out for a Sprint steel i...

Re: Name your favorite sprint run series
Wouldn't the mule project fall into this category? I would think it does becuz every release there is only a certain number made. The collectors and the flippers are usually absent in these releases. No offense to any collectors out there, but the mules are not exactly safe queens. Also the design h...
