Re: Black DLC Cruwear PM2 back in stock at DLT
Lol dang. When the satin finish version came out I was debating holding out for a restock of the DLC version, but people told me it wasn't going to happen. Wish I hadn't listened.

Re: First Sharpening?
https://www.harborfreight.com/4-sided-diamond-hone-block-92867.html If I'm just sharpening a knife, I'll use the 300 grit side. I stop once the edge cleanly shaves, and I can run my nail down the length of the edge and feel it catch. I avoid edges that feel smooth when I do the fingernail test. If ...

Re: Little help, can’t decide on a new Salt?
I picked up a serrated wharncliffe Salt 2 and have big regrets. I just don't find this blade shape as all-around useful as blades that have some belly to them.

Re: N5 LW Maxamet, and all Maxamet blades in general.
Warped blades is a known issue with Maxamet, and the steel is so expensive to grind and process, so Maxamet blades have a bit more leniency for a slight warp in QC. Basically nobody else is making blades in Maxamet so it's something that we just kinda gotta live with.

Re: Flytanium Lotus G10 Paramilitary 2 scales initial impressions
I bought the very same scales for $35 several months ago, and my impressions are the same as yours: they feel better in-hand, I have some concerns, but I haven't use them hard enough to form strong impressions. I liked the color of the OEM scales better than Flytanium's, so while I had some RIT Roy...

Flytanium Lotus G10 Paramilitary 2 scales initial impressions
After using my PM2 for some "harder use" tasks that required me to grip the handle tightly and apply some force, I found that the knife develops some hot spots due to the very-squared-off scales that I didn't love. I decided that aftermarket scales might be the solution. I enjoy polymer sc...

Re: Here it is.
Spyderco factory bevels are *mostly* pretty good (at least compared to some other expensive brands) but the bevel on your new PM2 is *especially* nice. Can't wait to see what it looks like with some patina on the scales.

Re: Tool Steels Are Much Easier To Sharpen
When I did my first proper sharpening on my M4 Sage 5, I laid back the factory bevel to 15 dps and evened the grind up and despite trying to be careful not to form a burr the heel and tip of the blade did form a nasty burr that were extremely difficult to remove. Really I had to destroy the apex and...

Re: And sometimes they're perfect.
I picked up a Salt 2 through the Opfocus program and just wanted to use this thread to shout it out. The lockbar is flush either open or closed, the knife came nice and sharp with a pretty clean apex, the blade centering is spot on, and all the black coating is very smooth and even. The blade has no...

Re: In Defense of Liners
While I don't see the centering on the Para 3 LW as an "issue" at all, I too also prefer PB-washer actions. I actually think that the Para 3 LW offers the best total compromise as it has a partial steel liner, a PB washer and bare FRN on the other side, which allows the user to easily tune...

My experience buying a knife using Opfocus
I wanted to write about this for people who are curious whether or not signing up for the program is "worth it." For those who don't know, Opfocus is a program that provides a 50% discount off MSRP for qualified people which includes military, veterans, first responders and medical personn...

Re: TiCN/DLC food safety
Im going to say DLC is. That stuff just does not come off. You pretty much have to scratch it with metal or sand it or something. Ticn, I want to say no. I was cleaning a new ticn pac salt with a wet paper towel and there was definitely a small amount of the coating that transferred over. As in, th...

Re: Mystery Knife Center exclusive coming 6/23 (S90V/burlap micarta Shaman)
This is a little off-topic, but does Spyderco have a regular production knife in S90V? Their website lists several knives that are no longer in production (Drunken, Paysan) and a sprint. It also mentions the fluted CF Native. Is that still in production? All this talk of S90V has me interested. The...

Re: Mystery Knife Center exclusive coming 6/23 (S90V/burlap micarta Shaman)
What’s wrong with information being parroted when it comes from a well respected, accurate source? If I’m going to buy a folder with with .14” blade stock, it’s because I’m going to beat the crap out of it. S90V is not a tough steel by any means. https://knifesteelnerds.com/2020/09/28/s90v-and-s125...

Re: Looking at "Vivi edges" with a VHX-6000 digital microscope
That NIB edge near the ricasso doesn't look like a rough edge, it looks like a burr. I'm guessing the finishing process wasn't able to hit that spot to clean it up.
