It seems the highly corrosion resistant steels will not take as dark of a laser etch. I first noticed this years ago on my first N5 Salt (LC200n). It seems H1, H2 and MC act similarly. The satin version is one of my top dogs, and I have the DLC Manix too which is great, I just don't love coated blades.

The price does make it hard to resist. It's the same price the satin blade model was in 2019.
