Re: Sharpening and bladeprotection.
I,,,,,,, So no protecting of the blade is necessary when using the SM. .... As said I personally don´t mind scratches of whatever origin on my blades at all anyway. But when sharpening SE, the Sharpmaker can scratch up one side of the blade, when using certain methods - like the one I use, where I ...

Re: Sharpening and bladeprotection.
I don’t use the brown rods anymore. Diamond rods are all I need complemented with white for burr removal. It takes less time and the coarser edge is a bonus. I sold my guided system a while ago. SM will do fine. Even for reprofiling (use CBN or diamond). And yes it takes some time. But we all like ...

Re: BHQ Shaman M4 Assembly QC issues?
Thanks for sharing. The blade play on my Shaman is up and down in the direction of opening and closing. The tip moves 0,1 inch (3 mm). Centering is not the issue in this case. I hope you found a solution for the blade play as well. Much appreciated. Ohhhh gotcha, now I understand. Hmmm that could b...

Re: Would you buy a Stretch XL Salt?
Vivi, I missed the options: yes, 1 to 10, yes 11-50 and yes 51 - 100… But seriously a Stretch XL in salt version would be a welcome addition. Maybe in H2 steel or Magnacut. At the moment i am holding off the VG10 version. Not that VG10 is not a great steel, because it is, but for the diversity of st...

Re: BHQ Shaman M4 Assembly QC issues?
Unfortunately i have massive blade play in my Z-wear Shaman. It is there closed and in any open position when not locked. Only when fully opened the blade play is gone. I have tried everything to correct it, but haven’t found the right solution yet. Therefor i am very curious about possible solutio...

Re: We need a Shaman XL
The design of the Shaman is one of my favorites. No thumb ramp, rounded scales for comfortable grip, sturdy, compression lock and still pocketable. This design deserves an XL version. So, i back you 100% on this one David. Also the length of the blade of 3.75 inch is a good suggestion in my opinion....

I had a bushcrafter desert ironwood in 3V. We didn't get along very well. It's a pity i can't exactly remember why. Hope this posting about how great the knife is by you guys doesn't lead to another knife on my 'wanted list'.

Re: Bark River Knives
One more Bushcraft Scout in stock at DLT. Thanks for sharing. A new batch is available for pre-order. I wait for a 1.25 bravo in magnacut (if it ever will be made). Last week I found the Aurora scandi magnacut in my mailbox. Haven’t used it yet. Can’t wait to put my own edge on it and experience wh...

Re: Proxy for sharpness
Slicing newspaper against the grain. This method also kind of detects burrs and possible microchips. I double check for a burr by stropping. It will leave marks. Never understood the need for hair popping or hair whittling sharp though. What I use my knives for (edc, box cutting, food prep and bushc...

Re: On the fence
That is one fine piece of a cutting tool you are showing there. The dragonfly may not be the best option when you need a larger blade. It’s power in my opinion is its carry size. It’s so small you can easily carry it anywhere. The best cut is made with the knife you have on you. K390 is also an exce...

Re: Has any knife made you stop buying knives?
There is no ‘need’ for knives anymore, only curiosity. My collection of users is changing regularly. Folding and fixed. I know for me the ‘one’ does not exist and I don’t care. I enjoy the diversity of handle shapes, blades and steel. Sometimes I only buy a knife for the ‘exotic’ steel to find out h...

Thanks, Dan! I went ahead and bought the ultra-lite I personally love the look of it above the aurora and after some research it seems like it's close in size with the Mora no. 1 classic which is what I'm used to. Although I'm glad that the blade stock is a tad thicker (.01) Would you mind posting ...

Re: chaparral cqi?
i don't get the marriage of the Chaparral with XHP. There is so much potential of a stainless steel in this design. Don't get me wrong, i like XHP. Just don't like the fact to be very carefull with it because it ain't stainless. The occassional foodcutting requires always an almost direct rinse and ...

Re: Favorite small spyderco
Chaparral and dragonfly are competing.
Chaparral is more usefull due to the slightly longer bladelength and that is also its weakness against the dragonfly.
Can't hold any smaller than that
