Re: What is your bevel angle set at?

20 degrees per side. It’s the most common recommended angle found on most sharpening devices for a reason... It cuts well and consistently has as good a edge retention as the steel allows. Plus, once you Know what 20 degrees looks like and feels like on all your different knives your sharpening and ...

Re: Is your interest in sharpening on the same level as your interest in knives?

Actually I enjoy sharpening and maintaining my knives more than cutting stuff with them. Freehand on Naniwa Pro or Gesshin water stones.. Shapton or Atoma on The Edgepro... KO Worksharp with blade grinding attachment... and my go to everyday SharpMaker. A half dozen strops including a washboard. I h...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Weekend... I can carry a bit bigger than Normal... PM2. Used it to cut open a Net wrapped round bale for the Horse... scrape some corrosion off Electric fence terminals... cut a piece of radiator hose for the Tractor.

Not a bad blade day.

Re: What should I buy to practice sharpening on?

“Thanks - I actually am hesitant to use a lot of my knives because of my poor sharpening skills I have a full Spyderco benchstone set, a stock sharpmaker, and I just picked up a norton combo stone. I also have a fine lansky diamond benchstone. I had a opinel I was practicing on, but at this point th...

Re: How sharp should an EDC knife be?

For Me and my EDC usage... opening boxes... cutting sandwiches... opening plastic bags and hard plastic clamshells. I find that sharp enough to shave arm hair as the upper end and to easily slice cut news paper as the lower end is where I like to keep my EDC. The hardest part for me is which knife t...

Re: CPM REX 45 | Edge Performance

Very nice write up. And, you have some great looking sharpening stones and blades. Sometimes sharpening for me is like music... A great Conductor (you) knows how to make the pieces work together by knowing the limits and ranges of all the instruments (steel and stone). A good Musician knows their pa...

Re: Spyderco Calypso Jr. Sprint Run Knife Gray (Aogami Super Blue)

Received my First Spyderco knife today. I thought the Calypso Jr. with super blue would be a good place to start my introduction to the Spyderco family of knives. I do have a Spyderco Sharpmaker that I often use on my other EDC knives. The Calypso is knife number 15 and is good company with several ...
