Re: Auto Storage
I too have always heard the theory that springs only wear by the act of compression and decompressing. But.... As someone who has had the springs in several Glock magazines have their springs give up the ghost after about 5 years of being stored fully loaded, I believe it is best to err or the side ...

Re: Do most of us need larger knives?
I used to think I needed a large knife. Sometimes I did need one but it was seldom. Today, I usually carry two knives--a clipless Dragonfly and something larger. That "larger" knife is usually in the 3" blade or less range. Heavy use for my knives are cutting up 2-3 cardboard boxes. I...

Re: Is your interest in sharpening on the same level as your interest in knives?
I've messed around with knives for 60 years or more but I never tried to get them really sharp until I bought my first Spyderco knife along with a Triangle Sharpmaker nearly 30 years ago. It was so easy to use it sparked my enthusiasm. I've since moved to mostly using Spyderco ceramic bench stones--...

Re: Anybody used any of the spydercos with the Emerson/wave opener?
Ah, The Wave. Or, as I affectionately call it, The **** Hook. I haven't tried a Spyderco with the wave feature for a very good reason--I have an Emerson that has the wave. Rather, it HAD the wave feature but a Dremel took care of that. The wave hook kept getting caught on the seams of my pants pocke...

Re: What do you use your Spyderco for?
Really heavy duty stuff like opening envelopes and packages, cutting up cardboard for recycling and opening those infuriating clamshell packages.

Re: What’s your favorite or most used Spyderco?
Plain vanilla Dragonfly. Carried clipless, loose in the pocket.
I have a lot of larger knives but the Dragonfly is the knife I have when I don't think I'll need to carry a knife.

Re: Is the Dragonfly Obsolete?
No way! I carry a DF clipless in my pocket with other junk and I never know it's there until I need it. Try that with the FRN Chaparral. No comparison. You'll notice the Chaparral is there. Everyday, I carry the DF and one other knife. Sometimes that other knife is the FRN Chaparral. Both are outsta...

Re: How do you store your knives
Uhh...their kinda everywhere. Original boxes, ammo boxes, Amazon cardboard shipping boxes, Ziploc bags, loose in cabinet drawers, in the car's console and, of course, in my pocket.

Re: Do you care about deep carry?
New guy here. Actually, I've been around for years but never registered. Anyway...I personally don't like deep carry clips. I like a good sized chunk of the knife peeking out of my pocket so I can get a good grip on it when I want to take it out. When the knife is deep inside my pocket, I end up hav...
