Wow, what an argumentative lot!
I believe the question was which is the most reliable lock.
My answer is the ball bearing lock.
In my opinion.

Re: Proposal: A Contoured Scale Series
I have to agree re contoured scales. I think that Spyderco could be in a winner if they offered the option of contoured scales. The only fault that I can find with Spyderco folders is that they aren't that comfortable to hold compared to some of my other knives that do have scales designed for the h...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
I just started a job, this job conincidentally requires constant cutting miscellaneous objects and opening things for hours on in sometimes. I carried my Tenacious, and PM2 S110V to work. My Tenacious was ok from about 7:30am to 11:30am. The Tenacious was utterly dulled. So, I used my S110V PM2 sol...

On the bottom of ceramic plates, there is often a ring of uncoated ceramic which can be used as an emergency sharpening stone.
Edit: same with ceramic mugs.

Cut back brambles and third of an inch ropes, while helping set out a Field Target course, with my Tenacious.

Re: Why do you have the knives you do?
I bought my first Spyderco, a Tenacious, after my son enrolled me on Spyderco on Facebook. I liked it so much I now have the Spyderco bug and so far have bought one of each kind of lock, a really small one and am in the process of buying a really big one. After that I might start on the fixed blades.

Re: Whats your favorite unusual blade shape?
My favourite unusual blade is also the kukri. However the most unusual blade that I have, until joining this forum, rather underrated is the blade on the Citizen. Until I saw the explanation for this serrated semi hook shape I didn't realise how devastating it could be in combat! Having said t...

Re: What is your favorite lock type?
Being a lefty I prefer the ball bearing/axis lock. But the only lock I dislike is the back lock. I also dislike the back lock and I have two of them, a Pacific Salt and a Dragonfly. I open both by compressing the back lock and only releasing it when the blade is fully opened or closed to minimise w...

Re: Police versus military?
The police just looks flimsy compared to the other two You couldn't be more wrong about that. My Police 3 is a decade old and works better than the day I bought it. I've chopped and batoned with it, and even used it as a regular pocket knife from time to time. Only reason I retired it, is because I...

Re: Police versus military?
Manix XL gets my vote. Extremely comfortable handle and strong closed bias while still being easy to thumb flick open. It is a pocket hog, but I always keep a pocket dedicated to carrying my knife. I don’t use pocket clips, so reaching past the knife isn’t something I’ve had to deal with. My next S...

Re: Manix 2 XL Question
I bought my Manix second hand, lnib, and the first owner said that he had trouble with it to start with but after a few open/closed operations it really smoothed out.
I have to say mine is now smooth silk and locks up really solid.
